Weak and Helpless 10/9 Thursday Thoughts

LEP'S FAITH QUOTES: Weak and Helpless 10/9 Thursday Thoughts How could these weak and helpless fishermen, poor and needy, ignorant and unlearned, do the works of Christ and greater works than He had done? They were incapable. None of us is able. But our emptiness has to be clothed with divine fulness, and our helplessness has to be filled with the power of His helpfulness. Paul knew this when he gloried in all that brought him down in weakness, for flowing into his weakness came a mighty deluge of divine power. --Smith Wigglesworth

Prayer Alone Gives Success 10/8 Wednesday Wisdom

LEP'S FAITH QUOTES: Prayer Alone Gives Success 10/8 Wednesday Wisdom Preaching and personal work are God-honored and blessed vocations or ministries, but prayer is the foundation of it all. A man might preach with the eloquence of a Beecher and be the most skilled of diplomats as a soul winner, but he will fall short of his ministry in both fields if he isn't backed up by the prayer life. The failure of all Christian enterprises is a prayer failure. Prayer alone gives success. -- E. W. Kenyon.

Feast of Tabernacles -- Happy Birthday, Jesus 10/7 Tuesday Truth

LEP'S FAITH QUOTES: Feast of Tabernacles -- Happy Birthday, Jesus! 10/7 Tuesday Truth The final and most joyous festival of the year began at sundown Monday, October 6, and continues for seven days. It is called Feast of Tabernacles (or Shelters or Booths)... or Sukkot. It celebrates God's care and protection during forty years of wandering in the wilderness and His continuing sustenance. It is a time of thanksgiving for the harvest, insuring their survival for another year. All Jews made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem. They made and lived in temporary shelters (sukkah booths) recalling their years of wandering. In modern times families or congregations build outdoor shelters filled with harvest decorations and they often eat their meals and invite guests to visit their sukkahs. It was during the Feast of Tabernacles' illumination ceremony that Jesus said, "I am the light of the world." It was during the water pouring ceremony that Jesus said, "I am the living water." There is evidence by comparing time frames in the Scriptures to show that Jesus was born during the Feast of Tabernacles. Many Messianic Jews celebrate the birth of Jesus at this time and not at Christmas. "Jesus is God tabernacling among men. The word _dwelt_ in Greek implies a temporary dwelling, a sukkah booth. Jesus is God's ultimate sukkah booth. For God, in Jesus Christ, tabernacles among men. As the Temple was a temporary dwelling for the Shekinah (visible Glory of God), so Jesus tabernacling among us manifested the glory of God. He is the source of light and life to all who believe." (The Fall Feasts of Israel, by Mitch and Zhava Glaser) In God's timetable of the Fall Festivals, Rosh Hashanah (Feast of Trumpets) foreshadows the Rapture, Yom Kippur foreshadows the Final Judgment, and Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles) represents the Marriage Supper of the Lamb in heaven.

So Many Things in My House 10/6 Monday Meditation

LEP'S FAITH QUOTES: So Many Things in My House 10/6 Monday Meditation You say, There are so many things in my house that would have to be thrown out the window if Jesus came to my home." Would to God we could understand it for He is in the house all the time. All the things ought to go out the window that couldn't stand His eyes on them. Every impression of our hearts that brought trouble when He looked at us ought to go forever. -- Smith Wigglesworth

You Talk 10/3 Friday Faith

LEP'S FAITH QUOTES: You Talk 10/3 Friday Faith [I have repeated this one often over the years, hopefully not recently.] You talk of your doubts and your fears, and you destroy your faith. You talk of the ability of the Father that is yours, and fill your lips with praise for answers to prayers that you have asked. Its reaction upon the heart is tremendous: Faith grows by leaps and bounds. You talk about your trials and your difficulties, of your lack of faith, of your lack of money, and faith shrivels, loses its viritlity. Your whole spirit life shrinks. You study about what you are in Christ and then confess it boldly... Regardless of appearance, you take your stand; make your confession and hold fast to it in the face of apparent impossibilities. -- E. W. Kenyon.

Yom Kippur 10/2 Thursday Thoughts

YOM KIPPUR begins at sunset, Wednesday, October 1, and ends at sunset, Thursday, October 2. Yom Kippur | Important for Christians It is easy for Believers to assume that we are not expected to do anything written in the Old Testament aside from obeying the Ten Commandments. After all, most of what is in the Old Testament was for the Jews and does not apply today, right? No… When God gives something as an everlasting ordinance, it is meant to be just that, something done throughout all generations… because everlasting does not have an expiration date. We, as Christian believers in Yeshua, are grafted into our Jewish brothers and sisters, not the other way around (see Romans 11). Even Jesus observed biblical feasts, and ... He never said we were to stop observing God’s calendar. Jesus never expected Gentiles to suddenly become Jews… but He desires Jews and Gentile Believers to come together. Not forgetting who God created each to be, but still being as ONE BODY whose heart is for God and His will, not their own. Yom Kippur, therefore, being one of God’s everlasting ordinances, was not spoken by Jesus as being useless. Yes, while we are not going to be sacrificing animals… Yom Kippur continues to serve a special purpose. Ten days before Yom Kippur is Rosh Hashanah, the biblical new year and our awakening blast. When we reach Yom Kippur, we have JUST entered a new year in God, a fresh season where we can shake off the old and go higher into all God has for us through repentance and return to Him. This is vital preparation for our calling and relationship with God, but also for the final Fall Feast, Sukkot, where we abide with God. Because it is important to be clean before we abide with Him... Being a Believer does not make these feasts less important, in fact, due to the knowledge and Blood of Jesus, they become more important. Because the fullness of what they are becomes clearer. We pray that this Fall Feast season, God awakens you, redeems you, and dwells with you! We pray that through this moed [appointed time] you understand who you are, the roots of your faith, and most importantly, the truth of God’s purpose and plans for you! curtlandry.com      Curt Landry Ministries on Facebook

Be Like Him 10/1 Wednesday Wisdom

LEP'S FAITH QUOTES: Be Like Him 10/1 Wednesday Wisdom One thing God wants to fix in our hearts is to be like Him. Be like Him in character. Don't be troubled so much about your faces but be more concerned about your hearts. All the powder won't change the heart. All the adorning of silks and satins won't make purity... Righteousness in the inward parts. Pure through and through. -- Smith Wigglesworth
