No Such Thing As Defeat 12/31 Thursday Thoughts

Have a blessed new year, friends. This will be the last post of the year. There is no such thing as defeat for the believer. Without the cross, without Christ's righteousness, without the new birth, without the indwelling Christ, without this divine incoming of God, I see myself a failure. But God, the Holy Ghost, can come in and take our place till we are renewed in righteousness -- made the children of God. Nay, verily, the sons of God. -- Smith Wigglesworth

One of My Favorite Quotes 12/30 Wednesday Wisdom

The reason the world is not seeing Jesus is because Christian people are not filled with Jesus. They are satisfied with weekly meetings and occasionally reading the Bible, and sometimes praying. Beloved, it God has hold of you by the Spirit, you will find that there is an end of everything and a beginning of God, so that your whole body becomes seasoned with a divine likeness of God. -- Smith Wigglesworth

How Satan Gets An Opening 12/28 Monday Meditation

I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas. Remember that Lep's Faith Quotes will not be on a regular schedule this week. Before Satan can bring his evil spirits, there has to be an open door... How does Satan get an opening? When the saint ceases to seek after holiness, purity, righteousness, truth; when he ceases to pray, stops reading the Word and gives way to carnal appetites. Then it is that Satan comes. -- Smith Wigglesworth

Such a Perfect Savior 12/24 Thursday Thoughts

This will be my last quote before Christmas. The schedule for quotes next week will be irregular. I wish you a blessed celebration of the Incarnation! He was so lovely, such a perfect Savior -- Oh, that I could shout "Jesus" tonight in such a way that the world would hear. There is salvation, life, power and deliverance through that name... -- Smith Wigglesworth

Where Our Gaze Is Fixed 12/23 Wednesday Wisdom

As we think about that which is pure, we become pure. As we think about that which is holy, we become holy. And as we think about our Lord Jesus Christ, we become like Him. We are changed into the likeness of the object on which our gaze is fixed. -- Smith Wigglesworth

Perfect Peace 12/22 Tuesday Truth

There is a life of perfect deliverance, and this is where God wants you to be. If I find my peace is disturbed on any line, I know it is the enemy who is trying to work. How do I know this? Because the Lord has promised to keep your mind in perfect peace when it is stayed on Him (Isaiah 26:3). -- Smith Wigglesworth

Call Upon His Name Right Now 12/21 Monday Meditation

God is compassionate and says, "Seek ye the Lord while he may be found..." (Isaiah 55:6). And He has further stated, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13). Seek Him now, call on His name right now, and there is forgiveness, healing, redemption, deliverance, and everything you need for you right here and now, and that which will satisfy you throughout eternity. -- Smith Wigglesworth

Your Thought Life 12/18 Friday Faith

The devil knows that if he can capture your thought life, he has won a mighty victory over you. His great business is injecting thoughts, but if you are pure and holy you will instantly shrink from them. God wants us to let the mind that in Christ Jesus, that pure, holy, humble mind of Christ, be in us. -- Smith Wigglesworth

Power for Us 12/17 Thursday Thoughts

And before He went to the glory, He told His disciples that they should receive the power of the Holy Ghost upon them, too. Thus, through them, His gracious ministry would continue. This power of the Holy Ghost was not only for a few apostles, but even for them that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God should call (Acts 2:39), even for us away down in the twentieth century. Some ask, "But was not this power just for the privileged few in the first century?" No. Read the Master's great commission as recorded by Mark [16] and you will see it is for them who believe. -- Smith Wigglesworth

Take Your Position 12/16 Wednesday Wisdom

Take your position in the first epistle of John and declare, "...greater is he that is in [me], than he that is in the world" (I John 4:4). Then recognize that it is not yourself that has to deal with the power of the devil but the Greater One that is in you. Oh, what it means to be filled with Him. You can do nothing of yourself, but He that is in you will win the victory. -- Smith Wigglesworth

Above Par All the Time 12/14 Monday Meditation

Yes, there is a power, a blessing, an assurance, a rest in the presence of the Holy Ghost. You can feel His presence and know that He is with you. You need not spend an hour without this inner knowledge of His holy presence. With His power upon you there can be no failure. You are above par all the time. --Smith Wigglesworth

Ever Hungry 12/11 Friday Faith

He would have us ever hungry to receive more and more of His Spirit... A man who is not hungry to receive more of God is out of order in any convention. -- Smith Wigglesworth

Knowledge of God Laid Up for Us 12/10 Thursday Thoughts

God has never put anything over on a pole where you could not reach it.  He has brought His plan down to man, and if we are prepared this morning, oh, what there is for us!  I feel sometimes we have just as much as we can digest, yet there are such divine nuggets of precious truth held before our hearts, it makes you understand that there are yet heights, and depths, and lengths, and breadths of the knowledge of God laid up for us.  We might truly say,

"My heavenly bank, my heavenly bank,  / The house of God's treasure and store.  / I have plenty in here; I'm a real millionaire."

Are You Hungry? 12/8 Tuesday Truth

God is making people hungry and thirsty after His best.  And everywhere He is filling the hungry and giving them that which the disciples received at the very beginning.  Are you hungry?  If you are, God promises that you shall be filled.

Shall Be Filled 12/7 Monday Meditation

"Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled" (Matthew 5:6).  Note that word, "shall be filled."  If you ever see a "shall" in the Bible, make it yours.  Meet the conditions and God will fulfill His Word to you.

Let Him Reign Supreme 12/4 Friday Faith

I can remember the time when I used to go white with rage, and shake all over with temper.  I could hardly hold myself together.  I waited on God for ten days.  In those ten day I was being emptied out and the life of the Lord Jesus was being wrought into me.  My wife testified of the transformation that took place in my life. "I never saw such a change.  I have never been able to cook anything since that time that has not pleased him.  Nothing is too hot or too cold, everything is just right."  God must come and reign supreme in your life.  Will you let Him do it?  He can do it, and He will if you will let Him.

Laugh When Things Get Worse 12/3 Thursday Thoughts

If you are sure of your ground, if you are counting on the presence of the living Christ within, you can laugh when you see things getting worse.  God would have you settled and grounded in Christ, and you become steadfast and unmoveable in Him.

Every Trial 12/2 Tuesday Truths

Every trial is to bring you to a greater position in God.  The trial that tries your faith will take you on to the place where you will know that the faith of God will be forthcoming in the next.  No man is able to win any victory save through the power of the risen Christ within him.  You will never be able to say, "I did this or that."  You will desire to give God the glory for everything.

Shout or Doubt? 12/1 Tuesday Truth

I come across some who would be giants in the power of God but they have no shout of faith.  I find everywhere people who go down [fail] even when they are praying simply because they are just breathing sentences without uttering speech, and you cannot get victory that way.  You must learn to take the victory and shout in the face of the devil, "It is done!"  There is no man who can doubt if he learns to shout.

Come and Catch Fire 11/30 Monday Meditation

Sometimes I say to people, "You weren't at meeting the other night."  They reply, "Oh, yes, I was there in spirit."  I say to them, "Well, come next time with your body also.  We don't want a lot of spirits here and no bodies.  We want you to come and get filled with God."  When all the people will come and pray and praise as did these early disciples there will be something doing.  People who come will catch fire and they will want to come again.  But they will have no use for a place where everything has become formal, dry, and dead.

God Wants Us Free 11/25 Wednesday Wisdom

This will be the last post for this week.  Happy Thanksgiving!

The power of Pentecost as it came at first came to loose men.  God wants us free on every line.  Men and women are tired of imitations, they want reality; they want to see people who have the living Christ within, and are filled with Holy Ghost power.

The Secret of Prayer 11/24 Tuesday Truth

Wednesday's post will be the final post of the week.  Happy Thanksgiving!

Note the word of [Acts 4] verse 31, "And when they had prayed, the place was shaken..."  There are many churches where they never pray the kind of prayer that you read of here.  A church that does not know how to pray and to shout will never be shaken.  If you live in a place like that you may as well write "Ichabod -- the glory of the Lord has departed" -- over the threshold.  It is only when men have learned the secret of prayer, of power, and of praise, that God comes forth.  "Well, I praise God inwardly," but if there is an abundance of praise in your heart, your mouth cannot help speaking it.

God Wants You to Know 11/23 Monday Meditation

God wants you to know that you are saved, cleansed, delivered, and marching to victory.  Faith to believe!  God has a plan!  Set your affections on things above, get into the heavenly places with Christ.

...Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind... - Romans 12:2

God Has Forgotten 11/20 Friday Faith

Therefore lift up your heads -- the devil makes you remember the day you failed, you would give the world to forget.  God had forgotten.  When He forgives, He forgets.  God wants to make us pillars, honorable, strong, holy.

A Tremendous Word 11/19 Thursday Thoughts

God's Word is a tremendous word, a productive word producing what it is.  Power; producing God-likeness.  We get to heaven through the Word of God, we have peace through the blood of His cross.  Redemption is ours through the knowledge of the Word.  I am saved because God's Word says so.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. - Romans 10:9

This Abundant Life 11/18 Wednesday Wisdom

God has a plan for us in this life of the Spirit.  This abundant life.  Jesus came that we might have life.  Satan comes to steal and kill and destroy, but God has for us abundance, full measure, pressed down, shaken together, overflowing, abundant measure, God filling us with His own personality -- presence -- making us salt and light and glory as revelation of Himself.  God with us in all circumstances, afflictions, persecutions, in every trial girding us with truth.  Christ the initiative, the Triune God, in control of our every thought, word, action, must be in line with Him with no weakness or failure.  One God -- a God of might, light, revelation preparing us for heaven.

The Name of Jesus 11/17 Tuesday Truth

The name of Jesus is so marvelous.  Peter and John had no conception of all that was in that name; neither had the man, lame from his mother's womb who was laid daily at the gate; but they had faith to say, "In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk."  And as Peter took him by the right hand, and lifted him up, immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength, and he went into the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising god.  God wants you to see more of this sort of thing done.  How can it be done?  Through His name, through faith in His name, through faith which is by Him.

See Him As God's Lamb 11/16 Monday Meditation

If you will see Him as God's Lamb, as God's beloved Son who had laid upon Him the iniquity of us all, if only you will see that Jesus paid the whole price for our redemption that we might be free, you can enter into your purchased inheritance of salvation, of life, and of power.

How Patient He Has Been 11/13 Friday Faith

Yes, He loved Peter, the wayward one.  Oh, He's a wonderful lover!  I have been wayward, I have been stubborn, I had an unmanageable temper at one time, but how patient He has been.  I am here to tell you that there is power in Jesus and in His wonderful name to transform anyone, to heal anyone.

Rivers of Living Water 11/12 Thursday Thoughts

Stephen cried out, "Lord, lay not this sin to their charge" (Acts 7:60).  As he was full of the Spirit, he was full of love, and he manifested the very same compassion for his enemies that Jesus did at Calvary.  This being filled with the Holy Ghost means much in very way.  It means constant filling, quickening, and a new life continually.  Oh, it's lovely!  We have a wonderful Gospel and a great Savior!  If you will be filled with the Holy Ghost, you will have a constant spring within, yea, as your faith centers in the Lord Jesus, from within you shall flow rivers of living water.

The Enemy Has You As a Target 11/11 Wednesday Wisdom

The Lord Jesus came to bring peace, and soon after you get peace within you get persecution without.  If you remain stationary, the devil and his agents will not disturb you much.  But when you press on and go the whole length with God, the enemy has you as a target.  But God will vindicate you in the midst of the whole thing.

Persecution Is a Blessing 11/10 Tuesday Truth

When Persecution Starts 11/9 Monday Meditation

How is it that the moment you are filled with the Holy Ghost that persecution starts?  It was so with the Lord Jesus Himself... The devil and the priests of religion will always get stirred when a man is filled with the Spirit and does things in the power of the Spirit.  (to be continued)

Read It Morn and Night 11/6 Friday Faith

None of you can be strong in God unless you are diligently and constantly hearkening to what God has to say to you though His Word.  You cannot know the power and the nature of God unless you partake of His inbreathed Word.  Read it at morn and at night, and at every opportunity you get.

Become Extraordinary 11/5 Thursday Thoughts

The life that He freely bestows is a gift.  Some think they have to earn it and they miss the whole thing.  Oh, for a simple faith to receive all that God so lavishly offers.  You can never be ordinary from the day you receive this life from above.  You become extraordinary, filled with the extraordinary peace of our extraordinary God.

Hide God's Word in Your Heart 11/3 Tuesday Truth

God Will Sweep It All Away 11/2 Monday Meditation

There are many good people, people who mean well, but they have no power to do anything for God.  There is just some little thing that came in their hearts years ago, and their faith has been paralyzed ever since.  Bring everything to the light.  God will sweep it all away if you will let Him.  Let the precious blood of Christ cleanse from all sin. If you will but believe, God will meet you and bring into your lives the sunshine of His love.

God Will Be Your Strength 10/30 Friday Faith

In every weakness God will be your strength.  You who need His touch, remember that He loves you.  Look wretched, helpless, sick one, away to the God of all grace, whose very essence is love, who delights to give liberally all the inheritance of life and strength and power that you are in need of.

The Love of God 10/29 Thursday Thoughts

It is impossible to comprehend the love of God as we think on natural lines.  We must have the revelation from the Spirit of God.  God giveth liberally.  He that asketh, receiveth.  God is willing to bestow on us all things that pertain to life and godliness.  Oh, it was the love of God that brought Jesus.  And it is the same love that helps you and me to believe.

When We Measure God 10/28 Wednesday Wisdom

Another preacher said, "It was an easy thing for Jesus to feed the people with five loaves.  The loaves were so big in those days that it was a simple matter to cut them into a thousand pieces each."  But he forgot that one little boy brought those five loaves all the way in his lunch basket.  There is nothing impossible with God.  All the impossibility is with us when we measure God by the limitations of our unbelief.

Be Filled With the Spirit

I see everything a failure except that which is done in the Spirit.  But as you live in the Spirit, you move, act, eat, drink, and do everything to the glory of God  Our message is always this, "Be filled with the Spirit."  [Ephesians 5:18] This is God's place for you, and t is as far above the natural life as the heavens are above the earth.  Yield yourselves for God to fill.

Holy Ghost Is Always on Hand 10/23 Friday Faith

Satan is always endeavoring to bring the saints of God into disrepute, bring against them railing accusations, but the Holy Ghost never comes with condemnation. He always reveals the blood of Christ.  He always brings us help.  The Lord Jesus referred to Him as the Comforter who would come. He is always on hand to help in the seasons of trial and test.  The Holy Ghost is the lifting power of the church of Christ.

Jesus Is Greater 10/20 Tuesday Truth

There are evil powers, but Jesus is greater than all evil powers.  There are tremendous diseases, but Jesus is healer.  There is no case too hard for Him.  The Lion of Judah shall break every chain.  He came to relieve the oppressed and to set the captive free.  He came to bring redemption, to make us as perfect as man was before the fall..

These Things Are Possible for Me 10/16 Friday Faith

I am glad that Jesus was a Man.  I am glad that Daniel was a man, and I am also glad that John was a man.  You ask, "Why?"  Because I see that whatever God has done for other men, He can do for me.  And I find God has done such wonderful things for other men that I am always on the expectation that these things are possible for me.

The Kind of God We Have 10/13 Tuesday Truth

We must never think about our God on small lines.  He spoke the word one day and made the world of things which did not appear.  That is the kind of God we have, and He is just the same today.  There is no change in Him.  Oh, He is lovely and precious above all thought and comparison.  There is none like Him.

In God's Word There Is Always More 10/12 Monday Meditation

You know, beloved, in God's Word there is always more to follow, always more than we know, and oh, if we could only be babies this afternoon, with a childlike mind to take in all the mind of God, what wonderful things would happen... When we get such a thirst upon us that nothing can satisfy us but God, we shall have a royal time.

Negligence in Prayer 10/9 Friday Faith

I'm going to take a break today from Smith Wigglesworth to share a quote that a friend sent me.

Negligence in prayer withers the inner man.  Nothing can be a substitute for it, not even Christian work.  Many are so preoccupied with work that they allow little time for prayer.  Hence hey cannot cast out demons.  Prayer enables us first inwardly to overcome the enemy and then to deal with him.

Stopping on the Threshold 10/8 Thursday Thoughts

Something ought to happen all the time so that people will say, "We never saw it like that."  If there is anything that God is dissatisfied with, it is stationary conditions.  So many people stop on the threshold, when God, in His great plan, is inviting them into His treasury.  Oh, this treasury of the Most High, the unsearchable riches of Christ, this divine position which God wants to move us into so that we are altogether a new creation.

You Will Draw People 10/7 Wednesday Wisdom

You will draw people if you refuse to be contaminated.  People want holiness.  People want righteousness.  People want purity...

Are You Dry? 10/6 Tuesday Truth

Are you dry?  There is no dry place in God, but all the good things come out of hard times.  The harder the place you are in, the more blessedness can come out of it as we yield to His plan.  Oh, if I had only known God's plan in its fulness I might never have had a tear in my life.  God is so abundant, so full of love and mercy; there is no lack to them that trust in Him.

So Many Things in My House

You say, There are so many things in my house that would have to be thrown out the window if Jesus came to my home."  Would to God we could understand it for He is in the house all the time.  All the things ought to go out the window that couldn't stand His eyes on them.  Every impression of our hearts that brought trouble when He looked at us ought to go forever.

The Deep Things of the Heart 10/2 Friday Faith

God can never save a man through his mind.  He saves him through his heart.  He can never bring all the glories into a man's life by his mind.  He must touch the deep things of his heart.

Be Like Him 10/1 Thursday Thoughts

One thing God wants to fix in our hearts is to be like Him.  Be like Him in character.  Don't be troubled so much about your faces but be more concerned about your hearts.  All the powder won't change the heart.  All the adorning of silks and satins won't make purity... Righteousness in the inward parts.  Pure through and through.

In Thee We Trust 9/30 Wednesday Wisdom

In Thy name we go.  I Thee we trust.  And God brings us off in victory.  When we have no confidence in ourselves to trust in ourselves but when our whole trust rests upon the authority of the mighty God, He has promised to be with us at all times, and to make the path straight, and to make all the mountains a way.  Then we understand how it is that David could say, "Thy gentleness hath made me great."

The Church's Highest Position 9/28 Monday Meditation

The Church will rise to the highest position when there is no schism in the Body of the lines of unbelief.  When we all, with one heart, and one faith, believe the Word as it is spoken, then signs, and wonders, and divers miracles will be manifested everywhere.  One accord:  "One Lord, one faith, one baptism."  Hallelujah!

As it was only out of the brokenness of Paul's life that blessing came forth, so it is out of the emptiness, and brokenness, and yieldedness of our lives that God can bring forth all His glories through us to others... Except we pass on what we receive we shall lose it... [or] it would become stagnant.

This Is the Way 9/18 Friday Faith

The Lord Himself... comes forth clothed upon to clothe thee in thy weakness, to strengthen thee in thy helplessness, to uphold thee in the limitation of thy knowledge, to unfold the mysteries of the Kingdom in the dire straits where two ways meet, and you know not where to go.  He says, "This is the way."  When thou art in such a straitened place that no hand but God is able to lead thee out, then He comes to thee and says, "Be strong and fear not, for I am with thee."

A Deeper Love 9/17 Thursday Thoughts

In the church of God, where a soul is on fire, kindled with the love of God, there is a deeper love between me and that brother than there is between me and my earthly brother.  Oh, this love that I am speaking about is divine love, it is not human love.  It is higher than human love, it is more devoted to God.  It will not betray.  It is true in everything.  You can depend upon it. It won't change its character... for as He is so are ye in this world.

A Place of Compassion 9/16 Wednesday Wisdom

It is only the broken, contrite heart which has received the mark of God.  Is is only those in that secluded place where He speaks to thee alone, and encourages thee when thou art down and out, and when no hand is stretched out to thee, He stretches out His hand with mercy and brings thee into a place of compassion.

Nothing Is Worthwhile But That 9/15 Tuesday Truth

Oh, beloved, God is a real essence of joy to us in a time when it seems barrenness, when it seems nothing can help us but the light from heaven far above the brightness of the sun.  Then that touches you, then that changes you, and you realize nothing is worthwhile but that.

Always Be in the Holy Ghost 9/14 Monday Meditation

We are born of the Spirit, and nothing but the Spirit of God can feed that spiritual life.  We must live in it, feed in it, walk in it, talk in it, sleep in it, hallelujah!  We must always be in the Holy Ghost.  "When I awake, I am with thee.  When I am asleep, my heart talketh."

God Makes No Mistakes 9/11 Friday Faith

To think that God can make a mistake is the biggest blunder that a man makes in his life.  God makes no mistakes.  But when we are in the will of God the plan works out admirably because it is divine, thought out by the almightiness of God.

Helpless Without This Word 9/4 Friday Faith

THIS WILL BE MY LAST FAITH QUOTE UNTIL LATE NEXT WEEK.

We shall become flat, and anemic, and helpless without this Word, dormant and so helpless to take hold.  You are not any good for anything apart from the Word.  The Word is everything.  The Word has to become everything.  When the heavens and the earth are melted away then we shall be as bright, and brighter than the day, and going on to be consistent because of the Word of God.

Glories Out of Hard Times 9/2 Wednesday Wisdom

The most trying time is the most helpful time.  Most preachers say something about Daniel, and about the Hebrew children, an especially about Moses when he was in a tried corner.  Beloved, if you read the Scriptures you will never find anything about the easy time.  All glories come out of hard times.

Pick Up Where You Failed 8/31 Monday Meditation

If you ever stop at any point, pick up at the place where you failed, and begin again under the refining light, and power and zeal of heaven and all things will be brought to you, for He will... meet you.

Remember, beloved, it is not what you are but what God wants you to be... Every new revelation brings a new dedication.

Let us seek Him.

No Room for an Ordinary Man 8/28 Friday Faith

God has no room for an ordinary man.  God wants to take the ordinary man and put him through the sieve and bring him out into a place of extraordinary faith... The great plan of God is to satisfy you, and then give you the vision of something higher.

God Has a Greater Plan 8/27 Thursday Thoughts

This is my 2400th post on lepsfaithquotes.blogspot.com, although I have been posting since 2005, long before I started using Blogspot.  I currently post in five locations.

God will do great things for us if we are prepared to receive them from Him.  We are dull of comprehension because we let the cares of this world blind our eyes, but if we keep open to God, He has a greater plan for us in the future than we have seen or ever have dreamed about in the past.

Tried As By Fire 8/26 Wednesday Wisdom

Every trial is to prepare your for a greater position for God.  Your tried faith will make you know that you will have the faith of God to go through the next trial.  Who is going to live dormant, weak, trifling, slow, indolent, prayerless, Bible-less lives when you know you must go through these things?  And if you are to be made perfect in weakness, you must be tried as by fire in order to know that no man is able to win a victory, only by the power of God in him.

You Will Be Sifted as Wheat 8/25 Tuesday Truth

I believe there are people here who will be put in the place where they will have to stand upon God's Word.  You will be sifted as wheat.  You will be tried as though some strange thing happened unto you.  You will be put in most difficult places where all hell seems round about you, but God will sustain and empower you, and bring you into an unlimited place of faith.

Are You Going Halfway? 8/24 Monday Meditation

Oh, what a Savior; what a place we are in, by grace, that He may come in to commune with us.  He is willing to say to every heart, "Peace, be still," and to every weak body, "Be strong."

Are you going halfway; or are you going right to the end?  Be not today deceived by Satan, but believe God.

Another One of My Facorites 8/21 Friday Faith

May God save me from ever wanting anything less than a flood.  I will not stoop for small things when I have such a big God.  Through the blood of Christ's atonement we may have riches and riches.  We need the warming atmosphere of the Spirit's power to bring us closer and closer until nothing but God can satisfy, and then we may have some idea of what God has left after we have taken all we can.  It is only like a sparrow taking a drink of the ocean and then looking around and saying, "What a vast ocean!  What a lot more I could have taken if I had only had room."

Only Listen to the Truth of God 8/20 Thursday Thoughts

Do not listen to what Satan says to you, for the devil is a liar from the beginning.  If people would only listen to the truth of God they would find out they were over the devil, over all satanic forces, they would realize that every evil spirit was subject to them; they would find out that they were always in the place of triumph, and they would "reign in life" by King Jesus.

Like a Watered Garden 8/19 Wednesday Wisdom

God wants you today to be like a watered garden, filled with the fragrance of His own heavenly joy, till you know at last that you have touched immensity.  The Son of God came for no other purpose than to lift and lift, and mold and fashion and remold, until we are just after His mind.

God's Fulness 8/18 Tuesday Truth

Some people only come with a very small thought concerning God's fulness, and a lot of people are satisfied with a thimbleful, and you can just imagine God saying, "Oh, if they only knew how much they could take away!"  Other people come with a larger vessel, and they go away satisfied, but you can feel how much God is longing for us to have such a desire for more, such a longing as only God Himself can satisfy.

More in One Year than in Fifty 8/17 Monday Meditation

Enter into the promises of God.  It is your inheritance.  You will do more in one year if you are really filled with the Holy Ghost than you could do in fifty years apart from him.  I pray that you may be so filled with Him that it will not be possible for your to move without a revival of some kind resulting.

God Has Forgotten Them 8/12 Wednesday Wisdom

The devil brings back to people's minds those things which they did so long ago, and there they are, thinking about them day and night!  There are two things certain, and a third thing which is more valuable than either of the two.  One is that you never forget them, and the third is that God has forgotten them.  The question is whether we are going to believe God, or the devil, or ourselves.  God says they are passed, cleansed, gone!

Something Within Us 8/11 Tuesday Truth

God wants to make us on fire in the Spirit, speaking burning words.  He wants to make all that a man has so prophetic in all its bearings that he will always speak as an oracle of God.  There ought to be something within him that shines through him with a vital power that makes men know he has seen God, and they feel God has come into their midst.

Made Like Unto Jesus 8/10 Monday Meditation

God has not given us a pattern which it would be impossible to copy.  Beloved, He hated sin...  If I have hatred for sin, I have something which is worth millions of pounds.  Oh, the blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son, cleanseth us from all sin.  Beloved, I feel somehow that this is the hope of the church for the future -- being purified, made like unto Jesus, pure in heart, pure in thought.

Never Rest Till You Are an Overcomer 8/7 Friday Faith

If you know that the Scriptures teach holiness, purity, and divine likeness -- overcoming under all conditions -- never rest till you are an overcomer.  If you know that men have gone in and have seen the face of God, who have had the vision revealed, have had the whole of the Scriptures made life in their lives, never rest till you come to it.  You say, "Have you a Scripture to prove it?"  Yes, the Scripture says, "That ye may apprehend with all saints what is the depth, length, breadth and height of the love of God." God's Seal Upon You 8/6 Thursday Thoughts

When God set His seal upon you, the devil dare not break it.  He dare not break in where you are.  You know what a "seal" is, don't you?  Now, then, when God puts His seal upon you, the devil has no power there.  He dare not break that seal and go through; and God puts His seal upon the man that believes Him.

The Secret for the Future 8/5 Wednesday Wisdom

The secret for the future is living and moving in the power of the Holy Ghost.  One thing I rejoice in is that there need not be an hour or a moment when I do not know the Holy Ghost is upon me.  Oh, this glorious life in God is beyond expression, it is God manifest in the flesh.  Oh, this glorious unction of the Holy Ghost -- that we move by the Spirit.  He should be our continual life.

Move Things by Prayer 8/3 Monday Meditation

I believe we have yet to learn what it would be with a church... that understood truly the work of intercession .  I believe God the Holy Ghost wants to teach us that it is not only the people on the platform who can move things by prayer.  You people, the Lord can move things through you.  You have to learn the power of the breath of the Holy Ghost.

When I Know Him 7/31 Friday Faith

"This is the work of God, that ye believe."  Nothing in the world glorifies God so much as simple rest of faith in what God's Word says... When I know Him, there are any amount of promises I can lay hold of, then there is no struggle, "For [he] that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened" (Matthew 7:8).

If you are left alone -- alone with God -- and you cannot get to a place of victory, it is a terrible time.  You must never let go, whatever you are seeking -- fresh revelation, light on the path, some particular need -- never let go.  Victory is ours if we are in earnest enough.

Something Different! 7/24 Friday Faith

I first saw this picture on Facebook a week ago.  It made quite an impression on me.  In case you're not familiar with it, the object on the right is a Torah scroll, which contains the first five books of the Bible handwritten in Hebrew.  This picture reminds me of a few Scripture passages.  Feel free to add more verses in the comments.
  • Praisers, declaring the Word of God, went out to battle in front of the Hebrew army in the Old Testament.
  • 2 Cor. 10:4  For the weapons of our warfare are not [carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.
  • Eph. 6:11-13  Put on the WHOLE armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the  wiles of the devil.  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the WHOLE armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day.
  • Heb. 4:12  For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword.

My All-Time Favorite Quote 7/23 Thursday Thoughts

Facebook Memories always reminds me that, on this date the year before, I reposted my all-time favorite quote.  So here is its annual appearance:

God has privileged us in Christ Jesus to live above the ordinary human plane of life. Those who want to be ordinary, and live on a lower plane, can do so; but as for me, I will not! For the same unction, the same zeal, the same Holy Ghost power is at our command as was at the command of Stephen and the apostles. We have the same God that Abraham had, that Elijah had, and we need not come behind in any gift or grace.

I Have a Jesus Like That 7/22 Wednesday Wisdom

I HAVE A JESUS LIKE THAT, who can speak the word, and the thing is done; I have a Jesus indwelling me and vitalizing me with a faith that believes it is true; I have a Jesus within me who has never let me get faint-heated or weary.  Let us press on in faith along the line of God's will, and the outpouring which have longed to see will come.

A Deluge of the Spirit 7/20 Monday Meditation

Some people get a wrong notion of the baptism [of the Holy Spirit].  The baptism is nothing less than the third person of the blessed Trinity coming down from the glory, the executive Spirit of the triune God indwelling your body, revealing the truth to you... until your bowels yearn with compassion, as Jesus yearned, to travail as He travailed, to mourn as He mourned, to groan as He groaned.  It cannot be otherwise with you.  You cannot get this thing along a merely passive line.  It does not come that way...  O that God might bring from our hearts the cry for such A DELUGE OF THE SPIRIT that we could not get away till we were ready for Him to fulfill His purpose in us and for us.

Ready for Every Emergency 7/17 Friday Faith

Nehemiah stood before the king because of trouble in Jerusalem which had nigh broken his heart.  He was sorrowful, and it affected his countenance; but he was so near to God that he could say:  "I have communed with the God of heaven."  And if we believers are to go forth and fulfill God's purpose with us, the Holy Spirit must be constantly filling us and moving upon us until our whole being is on fire with the presence and power of God.  That is the order of the baptism of the Holy Ghost.  The man is then ready for every emergency.

Fixed Solidly 7/16 Thursday Thoughts

A man who is baptized with the Holy Ghost has a Jesus mission.  He knows his vocation, the plan of his life.  God speaks to him so definitely and really that there is no mistaking about it.  Thank God for the knowledge which fixes me so solidly upon God's Word that I cannot be moved from it by any storm that may rage.

Sonship: Lay Hold of the Promises 7/15 Wednesday Wisdom

The thought that specially comes to me today is that of sonship.  The Spirit brings us to a place where we see that we are sons of God.  And because of this glorious position we are not only sons but heirs, and not only heirs, but joint-heirs.  And because of that, I want yo to see that all the promises of God are yea and amen to you through Jesus in the Holy Ghost.  If the Spirit of God that raised Jesus from the dead is in you, that power of the Spirit is going to quicken your mortal body.  And it beings me into a living place to believe that as an adopted child I may lay hold of the promises.

A Living Touch from God 7/10 Friday Faith

I will not be posting a Monday quote.  See you Monday afternoon with a Tuesday quote.

I have been asking God to send us His Word that is on fire; something that will live in our hearts, that will abide with us forever.  It is important that every day we should lay some new foundation that can never be uprooted.  Oh, for a living touch from God, and a new inspiration of power, and a deeper sense of His love!

Given All Things 7/9 Thursday Thoughts

You have not to try to bring Him down; He is down; you have not to try to bring Him here; He is here.  If we will obey the Lord there is nothing He will not give us since He has given us Jesus. The Spirit will have to reveal to us that fact that, because He has given us Jesus, He has given us all things.

Kept in the Spirit 7/8 Wednesday Wisdom

What does it mean to this generation for us to be kept in the Spirit?  All human reasoning and all human knowledge cannot be compared to the power of the life that is lived in the Spirit.  We have power to loose, and power to  bind in the Spirit.  There is a place where the Holy Ghost can put us where we cannot be anywhere else but in the Spirit.  But if we breathe His thoughts into our thoughts, and live in the unction of the Holy Spirit as He lived, then there will be evidences that we are in Him; and His works we will do.  But it is only in the Spirit.

Introduction to Smith Wigglesworth 7/6 Monday Meditation

Starting today I'll be quoting from Smith Wigglesworth for possibly a year.  I last quoted from him four years ago.  Wigglesworth (1859-1947)  grew up in England in the days of child labor.  He quit school at age 7 to work.  His wife taught him to read.  He would never read anything but the Bible.  He never wrote a book; all quotes are from his sermons, which were transcribed as he preached.  He had no confidence that he could preach until his wife, herself a well-known preacher, put him on the spot and announced that he would be preaching the service. Wigglesworth was a "Pentecostal pioneer" who had one of the greatest evangelistic and healing ministries of all time.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smith_Wigglesworth

There is a wonderful fellowship with Jesus.  The chief thing is to be sure that we take time for communion with Him.  There is a communion with Jesus that is life, and that is better than preaching.

Is Your Life Making an Impact? 7/3 Friday Faith

This is the conclusion of the Frank Bartleman quotes.  I will begin with Smith Wigglesworth on Monday.

Before closing may I say, Is your life making an impact where God has put you?  Are you a channel through which the rivers of living water are flowing day by day?  If the answer is "No," are you willing for it to become true?  Are you prepared to get on your knees and say, "Lord, whatever it may involve, make my life a channel for those rivers of living water!  Continue to recover Your church, according to Your great purpose, and let me be a living part of that glorious recovery"?

Pathway to Revival 7/2 Thursday Thoughts

One significant difference between the early church and the church today is this:  they believed in the Holy Spirit while we are afraid of the Holy Spirit; they knew the Holy Spirit experientially while we so often know Him only theologically and theoretically.  Will we at last let Him have His way?  This is the pathway to revival.

Withstanding Persecution 7/1 Wednesday Wisdom

It is certain that at present we could not stand bitter or prolonged persecution.  The church today would crack.  It is only a revived, strong church that could be entrusted to withstand this fiery ordeal.  Let us not hoodwink ourselves by thinking that it will never come to us  -- many of God's saints are going through it right now in countries under totalitarian rule.

... In that hour we will need all the grace an depth of life and all the power and gifts of the Holy Spirit that God is willing to give.

What the Church Must Prepare For 6/30 Tuesday Truth

I will be concluding the Frank Bartleman quotes this week and proceeding to Smith Wigglesworth quotes for up to a year.  I last quoted him four years ago.

What does the future hold?  We know it holds the blessed hope and glorious consummation of the age and the return of the Savior from heaven.  But before that, the church should be prepared for two things:  revival and persecution.  As in apostolic times these two went together, so surely it will be in these end times.  And to the prayerful and watchful, there are significant signs that both are on the way.

Hope for Revival 6/29 Monday Meditation

God wants to restore to the church all that she knew in New Testament times of His grace and His power.  What we see in the New Testament is surely available to us.  But are we open for it?
We may be interested in revival.  We may believe that revival is the only hope of the church today.  We may even be praying for it.  But are we ready for what God may be about to do?

Willing to Pay the Price 6/26 Friday Faith

Will God visit His people again?  Why not?  As surely as He has done it in the past, He will do it again.  God's skies are full of Pentecosts.  He only waits for us to claim them.  Do we not need one?  Then we can have it, when we are willing to pay the price of obedient faith.

Limiting the Holy One 6/25 Thursday Thoughts

Most meetings can only be kept alive now by continuous entertainment, professional evangelism, and a strong social spirit.  And this is all too true in Pentecostal, Holiness, and interdenominational circles, as well as in the older denominations.  Where is the Life itself to draw the people and bring God to them as in the beginning?  This is not New Testament.  It is abnormal, grieving and limiting the Holy One of Israel in our midst.

Fleshly Substitutes for the Spirit 6/24 Wednesday Wisdom

The exterior shell of every movement with which it loads itself and in which it later becomes buried, falls to lusting for "flesh."  One can usually judge the progress of this process by the things the movement comes to demand.  Instead of delight in the pure Word, prayer and worship, a love for souls, and zeal for good works, there come entertainment, programs, musicals, sensationalism, and oratory.  These things have no place in essential, true Christianity, but are professionalism -- flesh!  O God, deliver us from fleshly substitutes for the Spirit.

Seek Only God 6/23 Tuesday Truth

When We Stop Going Forward 6/22 Monday Meditation

Beloved, whenever we stop going forward, we go to milling around.  When an individual stops going forward for God, he begins to go in a circle, just as a man when lost in a forest ceases to go straight forward but wanders in a circle.
So it was with the early church.  When they ceased to go forward, they started wandering in a circle and became lost in the Dark Ages.  The Devil... removed the cross, offering them titles, positions, honor, salaries, profits of every kind -- and they fell for it.
They no longer needed to look for God for their protection and support...  And so it is with our great church bodies of today.  History repeats itself in every movement through human weakness and failure.

Criticism Stops the Flow 6/19 Friday Faith

The best preacher in the land cannot preach with liberty when his message is not desired or received.  The oil ceases to flow as soon as there are no more empty vessels to be filled.  This will often explain why good preachers sometimes have liberty and at other times have no anointing.  Criticism will stop the flow of oil through any preacher.  Oil will not flow when frozen.

We Tie God's Hands 6/18 Thursday Thoughts

"Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, and today, and forever" (Hebrews 13:8)!  God never changes.  We have changed.  We are not waiting for God.  God is waiting for us.  The Holy Spirit is given; we are still in the dispensation opened on the Day of Pentecost.  But God can only work when we are willing, yielded, and obedient.  We tie God's hands.

100% for God 6/17 Wednesday Wisdom

The early church came forth from the Upper Room fresh in her "first love" (Revelation 2:5), baptized with the Holy Spirit, filled with God, possessing both the graces and gifts of the Spirit, and with a 100 percent consecration for God.  This was the secret of her power.  She was all for God, and God was all for her.  This principle will apply in all ages, both individually and collectively... The greater the sacrifice, the more the fire.

Lazy Toward God 6/16 Tuesday Truth

The human soul is ever lazy toward God, and no one generation has seemed to be able to travel very far on its way back to God and His standard from which the early church fell.  It is true that human error or understanding continually satisfies itself with a part instead of the whole, but the real fact is that men are not willing to pay the price to come back fully to God's standard, to be all the Lord's.

One Family 6/12 Friday Faith

I will not be posting for Monday.

We should be as one family, which we are, at home in God's house anywhere.
We belong to the whole body of Christ, both in heaven and on earth.  God's church is one.  It is a terrible thing to go about dismembering the body of Christ.  How foolish and wicked the petty differences between Christians will appear in the light of eternity.

Christ the Foundation 6/11 Thursday Thoughts

God's people can never get together on human creeds and disciplines.  They are too narrow and changeable.  We have a foundation that is broad enough to hold all.  Christ Himself is this foundation.  In Christ, all God's people are one, irrespective of race, color, social standing, or creed.

When God Can Use a Man 6/10 Wednesday Wisdom

The fact is when a man gets to the place where he really loves obscurity, where he does not care to preach, and where he would rather sit in the backseat than on the platform, then God can lift him up and use him, and not very much before.

Seek Him in True Humility 6/9 Tuesday Truth

Let God's people everywhere begin to seek in deep, true humility.  Then He will reveal Himself and His plan to them.  One man with the real power of God upon him can do more than a thousand who go on their own account.  Only those who are true and loyal to God and His present-day message will share in this great victory.  The people who really humble themselves and stand the test, God will use to do His work.

Run Ahead of Him and Fail in the End? 6/8 Monday Meditation

The call of God to His people now is to humble themselves, to recognize their weakness and lack of power, to get down before Him and wait till His power is restored.  The great question, is, Will men see the plan of God and yield to it?  Will men get down in humility at Jesus' feet and pray and wait till He restores His full Pentecostal power/  Or will they continue to run ahead of Him and fail in the end?

Everything Centers About Jesus 6/5 Friday Faith

Everything centers around Jesus.  We may not put the power, gifts, the Holy Spirit, or in fact anything ahead of Jesus.  Any mission that exalts even the Holy Spirit above the Lord Jesus Christ is bound for the rocks of error and fanaticism.

The Same Consecration 6/3 Wednesday Wisdom

Is the church working, with all her resources, for this one purpose and to this one end?  That certainly does not mean the selfish heaping up of property and riches, more than we really need.  It does not mean getting all we want for ourselves and then tossing the Lord a dollar we do not need.  We have had the order totally reversed since the early church's fall.  God requires of everyone exactly the same consecration.

The Church's Mistaken Idea 6/2 Tuesday Truth

The church, since her fall in the early centuries, has had an altogether mistaken idea of her calling and salvation.  All believers are called to a 100 percent consecration.  God doesn't have two standards of consecration -- one for the foreign missionary, and another for the Christian at home.  We cannot find it in the Bible.  One is called to consecrate his all as well as the other, as God's stewards in their own places and callings.  It takes three to make a missionary.  One goes, one prays, and one gives.

Pentecost 6/1 Monday Meditation

Sunday, May 31 was Pentecost.  I am going to post my Facebook / Blogspot post here.

Pentecost is called "the birthday of the church". It is the day that the Holy Spirit came to be with us and in us. Jesus told his disciples to wait in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit came upon them. Since Old Testament times, every male Jew was required to come to Jerusalem for Pentecost (Feast of Weeks, Shavuot - Leviticus 23).
The Old Testament Pentecost celebrated God giving the Law to Moses on Mount Sinai. According to non-Biblical tradition, the soul of every Jew who would ever be born was present at Mount Sinai to hear God give the Law, each in his own language.
On the New Testament Pentecost, every male Jew from the known world heard the Gospel in his own language.
On the Old Testament Pentecost, 3000 who had worshipped the golden calf were put to death.
On the New Testament Pentecost, 3000 who heard the Gospel received new life.
Quoting Pastor Robert Morris: When the Law was given to Israel through Moses, no one could keep it. The Law gave the Israelites an understanding of what pleased God, but it couldn't give them the internal ability to live it.
However, when the Holy Spirit fills a person's life, amazing things happen. A dead human spirit is regenerated by the Holy Spirit, who writes a new law on the heart of the believer. This law isn't the Ten Commandments; rather, it's the "Law of Love."
We receive the empowerment to walk in love. In other words, we can't walk righteously without the power of the Holy Spirit.
Before that day, the disciples were timid and afraid -- hiding in locked rooms and dreading the knock at the door. After Pentecost, the disciples were filled with boldness and confidence. They proclaimed Jesus in public squares and synagogues. The transformation brought by the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost was astounding.
I encourage you to read the story of Pentecost in Acts 2.

Let Us Get to God 5/29 Friday Faith

Men have been speaking through the ages, but the voice of God the Spirit is calling us today.  Since the early church lost her power and place with God, we have been struggling back.  Up through "its" and "isms," theories, creeds, doctrines, schisms, issues, movements, blessings, experiences, and professions, we have come.  The stream could rise no higher than its source.  We need no more theology or theory... Let us get to God.

Holy Spirit's Focus 5/28 Thursday Thoughts

Any work that exalts the Holy Spirit or the gifts above Jesus will finally end up in fanaticism.  Whatever causes us to exalt and love Jesus is well and safe.  The reverse will ruin all.  The Holy Spirit is a great light, but will always be focused on Jesus for His revealing.

Losing Sight of the Fact 5/27 Wednesday Wisdom

There seemed to be a great danger of losing sight of the fact that Jesus was "all, and in all" (Colossians 3:11).  I endeavored to keep Him as the central theme and figure before the people.  Jesus will always be the center of our preaching.  All comes through and in Him.  The Holy Spirit is given to show the things of Christ.  (See John 16:14.)  The work of Calvary, the Atonement, must be the center of our consideration.  The Holy Spirit never draws our attention from Christ to Himself, but rather reveals Christ in a fuller way.  We are in the same danger today.

Intellectual Knowledge 5/22 Friday Faith

The greater part of most Christians' knowledge of God is and has always been, since the loss of the Spirit by the early church, an intellectual knowledge.  Their knowledge of the Word and principles of God is an intellectual one, through natural reasoning and understanding largely.  They have little revelation, illumination, or inspiration directly from the Spirit of God.

Only We Have Changed 5/21 Thursday / Ascension Day

Thursday is Ascension Day, the fortieth day after Resurrection Day.  Come again quickly, O Lord!

The meetings [Azusa Street Revival] were controlled by the Spirit, from the throne.  Those were truly wonderful days.  I often said that I would rather live six months at that time than fifty years of ordinary life.  But God is just the same today.  Only we have changed.

A Sea of Pure Divine Love 5/20 Wednesday Wisdom

Divine love was wonderfully manifest in the meetings [Azusa Street Revival].  The people would not even allow an unkind word said against their opposers or the churches.  The message was the love of God.  It was a sort of "first love" (Revelation 2:4) of the early church returned.  The baptism of the Holy Spirit, as we received it in the beginning, did not allow us to think, speak, or hear evil of any man.  The Spirit was very sensitive, tender as a dove... We knew the moment we had grieved the Spirit by an unkind thought or word.  We seemed to live in a sea of pure divine love.

The Road to Apostasy 5/19 Tuesday Truth

The apostasy of the early church came as a result of a greater desire to see the spread of its power and rule than to see new natures given to its individual members.  The moment we covet a large following and rejoice in the crowd that is attracted by our presentation of what we consider truth, and have not a greater desire to see the natures of individuals changed according to the divine plan, we start to travel the same road of apostasy.

The Midnight Cry 5/14 Thursday Thoughts

And now, once more, at the very end of the age, God calls.  The last call, the midnight cry, is now upon us, sounding clearly in our ears.  God will give this one more chance, the last.  A final call, a worldwide revival.  Then judgment upon the whole world.  Some tremendous event is about to transpire.

Choosing Second Best 5/13 Wednesday Wisdom

Human organization and human programs leave very little room for the free Spirit of God...  It is very easy to choose second best.  The prayer life is needed much more than buildings or organizations.  These are often a substitute for the other.  Souls are born into the kingdom only through prayer.

Faith For Better Things 5/12 Tuesday Truth

When we began to pray in the spring of 1905, no one seemed to have much faith for anything out of the ordinary.  Pessimism in regard to the then-present conditions seemed to be felt generally among the saints. But this attitude had changed.  God Himself had given us faith for better things.  There had been nothing in sight to stimulate us to this.  It came from nothing.  And can He not do the same today?

Hopelessly Divided Church 5/6 Wednesday Wisdom

Ancient Israel, when right with God, was one; how much more should the church be.  We have priests enough to serve continually, and plenty of seeking, needy people to fill the church at all times.  How far we have fallen from the early pattern, and even from the type of the church, Israel.  We are so far from it that we scarcely recognize the real thing... The difficulty and shame is that we are hopelessly divided.

God Does Not Have Many Churches 5/5 Tuesday Truth

God does not have many churches, all of different names.  There is no division in a true Pentecost or in true worship.  "God is a Spirit; and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth" (John 4:24). "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body... and have been all made to drink into one Spirit" (1 Corinthians 12:13).

Frank Bartleman quotes 5/4 Monday Meditation

Today I am beginning a short series of quotes by Frank Bartleman, a leading figure and the historian of the Azusa Street Revival.  This revival, which started in Los Angeles in 1906, was the beginning of the Pentecostal / charismatic movement.  It was the beginning of the greatest spread of the gospel worldwide and the beginning of the breaking down of racial barriers in the church.

Some churches are going to be surprised to find God passing them by.  He will work in channels where they will yield to Him.  They must humble themeselves for Him to come...  Some people are too well satisfied with their own goodness... God will humble them by passing them by.   The Spirit is breathing prayer through us for a mighty, general outpouring.  Great things are coming... God is moving.  We are praying for the churches and their pastors.  The Lord will visit those willing to yield to Him.

Final John G. Lake Quote 5/1 Friday Faith

This is my final quote from John G. Lake.  I will be starting with another "Pentecostal pioneer" from the early 1900's on Monday.

Indeed, I have this in my heart, that the low state of Christian experience that is common among men is mostly accounted for by this one fact:  that Christians have failed to grasp the exalted place into which Jesus Christ puts us when we have been made sons of God.

Victory of His Resurrection 4/30 Thursday Thoughts

On this side of the cross is the victory of His resurrection, the marvel of all victories, the victory over death by which He took death captive.  A living man, Himself, He came forth the Conqueror of death itself, having put all things under His feet.  What an ascent into triumph!  What a change in His consciousness!  What a distinction between the Redeemer and the redeemed! No longer subject to death, but triumphing over it.  No longer subject to humiliation, but now becoming the exalted One, bless God.

On the Other Side of the Cross 4/29 Wednesday Wisdom

This is a quote that I was wanting to use for Good Friday but couldn't find.  Tomorrow's quote is the one I wanted to use for Easter.

On this side of the cross we see all the marvel of opposites to what we see in the Christ on the other side of the cross.  On the other side of the cross we see a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief, bearing our sicknesses, carrying our sorrows.  He had nowhere to lay his head. Poverty was one of His characteristics.  Nobody ever stops to think, or rarely so, that He bore His poverty, and what for? "That through His poverty we might be made rich." (2 Cor. 8:9)  He bore our sorrows, what for?  That we through His sorrows might be made glad.  (See Isa. 35:10, Psalm 30:11) He bore our suffering, for what?  That we through His stripes might be healed (Isa. 53:5).  He gave His life a sacrifice for sins, for what?  That we should know no sin. (Heb. 10:12-18) Then having completed the redemption, or purchasing the redemption, the redemption becomes manifest this side of Calvary.

Let the Fire Fall 4/28 Tuesday Truth

It is up to the Church of Jesus Christ and the ministry of the Son of God to demonstrate that there is a power in the blood of Jesus Christ to save men and heal men unto the uttermost -- not half-healed or half the people healed, but I pray and believe that God's time has come for God's challenge to mankind and that challenge of the Christian Church to the world is to come on, and if it is God, let the fire fall.

The Power That Will Revive the Church 4/27 Monday Meditation

The only power that will revive the church in this land and the word is that which she will receive when she throws her heart open to God as the people of Israel did and says, "Lord God, we have sinned."

The Ultimate of the Gospel 4/24 Friday Faith

This startles some people.  But the ultimate of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and the ultimate of the redemption of the Son of God, is to reproduce and make every man who is bound by sin and held by sensousness and enslaved by the flesh, like Himself in deed and in truth -- sons of God.

You Are In the Family 4/22 Wednesday Wisdom

You are in the family of God.  You have a right to the use of the name of Jesus just like a pass belongs to you when you work for the railroad... You have a right to the name of Jesus.  That is the pass.  It carries you up into the Holy of Holies.

Jesus Is Your Righteousness 4/21 Tuesday Truth

God automatically, when you confess Jesus and accept Him as your Lord, becomes your righteousness.  And the moment that God becomes your righteousness, that moment your standing is like the standing of the Son of God.
For years I hunted for this thing I have given you tonight.  That ounce of unfitness and unworthiness (or as we call it in psychology, that inferiority complex) swamped me.  But when I saw that God became my righteousness I said, "I want you to know, Satan, that you have lost your case."  I know what I am now.

If Jesus Rose ... 4/20 Monday Meditation

I want to make a few deductions.  What are the implications if Jesus Christ rose from the dead?  What then?  Here are three things.  We know He is the Son of God.  We know that "He died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and rose again for our justification."  We know that every man who accepts Jesus Christ, God redeems that man, and we know that Romans 3:26 is true:
That he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
God automatically, when you confess Jesus and accept Him as your Lord, becomes your righteousness.  And the moment that God becomes your righteousness, that moment your standing is like the standing of the Son of God.

Divine Health 4/17 Friday Faith

Divine healing is the removal, in the power of God, of the disease that has come upon the body.  But divine health is to live day by day and hour by hour in touch with God, so that the life of God flows into the body just as the life of God flows into the mind or flows into the spirit.

The Real Christian 4/16 Thursday Thoughts

The real Christian is a separated man.  He is separated forever unto God in all the departments of his life, and so his body and his soul and his spirit are forever committed to God.  Therefore, from the day that he commits himself to God, he can go to no other power for help or healing, except to God.

Secret of How to Live 4/15 Wednesday Wisdom

Jesus gave us the secret of how to live this kind of life.  Jesus showed us that the only way to live this life was to commit oneself, as He did, to the will of God and not walk in his own ways at all, but walk in God's ways.  So the one who is going to be a Christ-man in the best sense and let the world  see Jesus in him, must walk in all the ways of Jesus and follow Him. He must be a Christ-man, a Christian, or Christ-one.

A Christ-Man 4/14 Tuesday Truth

When one gives himself to the Lord and becomes a child of God -- a Christian -- he is a Christ-man.  All that he does and all that he says from that time on should be the will and the words and the doings of Jesus, just as absolutely, just as entirely as He spoke and did the will of the Father.

The Secret Is In Being 4/13 Monday Meditation

A low standard of Christianity is responsible for all the shame and sin and wickedness in the world.  Many Christians think it is all right if they pattern after Jesus in a sort-of way.  They imitate Him and they do the things which He did; that is, they outwardly do them. They perform kind acts and they do other things which Jesus did.  But the secret of Christianity is not in doing, the secret is in being.  Real Christianity is in being a possessor of the nature of Jesus Christ.  In other words, it is being Christ in character, Christ in demonstration, Christ in agency of transmission.

The Name 4/10 Good Friday Faith

Peter and John were hustled to jail. The church prayed for them in "the Name".  They were released.  They went to church.  The entire church prayed that signs and wonders might be done.  How did they pray?  In "the Name".  They used it legally.  The vital response was instantaneous.  The place was shaken as by an earthquake.  Tremendous Name!" ...
The apostles used the Name.  It worked.  The deacons at Samaria used the Name.  The fire flashed.  Believers everywhere, forever, were commanded to use it.  The Name detonated around the world.

The Power of the Name 4/9 Thursday Thoughts

Peter and John instantly grasped the significance of His Name.  Passing into the temple they met a beggar-cripple... Peter commanded: "In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk." (Acts 3:6) ... He leaped to his feet, whole.
A multitude rushed up.  They demanded, "In what name, by what name, by what power have ye done this?"  Peter and John replied, "In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye slew, whom God raised up."
Matchless name!  The secret of power was in it.  When they used the name, power struck.  The dynamite of heaven exploded.

The Church Has Been Robbed 4/8 Wednesday Wisdom

We contend, by the Word of God, that the world and the Church have been robbed of the presence, power, and blessing of Jesus Christ -- a present Healer -- because the Church has falsely taught that the days of miracles are past.  The days of miracles never passed, only in the soul that lost its faith in God.  Where faith is, there ever will be the evidence of God's mighty power to save and heal.

Jesus the Magnificent 4/7 Monday Meditation

Jesus has sometimes been made to appear as a little bigot; sometimes an impostor.  The world is still waiting to see Him as He is.  Jesus the magnificent, Jesus the giant, Jesus the compassionate, Jesus the dynamic -- the wonder of the centuries.
Take the shackles off God.
Let Him have a chance to bless mankind without limitations.

Your Spirit Becomes Strong 4/3 Friday Faith

(conclusion)  On the other hand, your spirit life is fruitful and built up and enriched by communion with the Father and by reading His Word.  And your spirit becomes strong and vigorous.  There issues from it a faith that is triumphant and creative.  I venture to say this:  The men and women who are weak in faith, that once were mighty in faith, are so because they have stopped feeding on the Word of God and stopped close, intimate fellowship with the Father.

-- John G. Lake    I apologize.  I had used this quote, randomly out of order, in December.

Your Spirit Is Depleted 4/2 Thursday Thoughts

(continued from 4/1)  The reason people do not have rich, beautiful faith is because their spirit is denied the privilege of communion and fellowship with the Father.  You understand me?  You don't read your Bible; you don't pore over it; you don't live in it; you don't spend any time in fellowship with the Father.  Consequently your spirit is depleted and weakened.  Faith springs out of it and the faith that grows out of it is a sickly plant.  (to be continued)

Joy and Happiness 4/1 Wednesday Wisdom

Joy is something in your spirit.  Happiness is something connected with your surroundings. You are happy because of your surroundings.  You are joyful because you are in right relation with the Father.  Now faith, love, joy, hope -- all spring from your spirit being, the hidden man of the heart.  All are products of your spiritual life.   (to be continued)

The Value of Healing 3/30 Monday Meditation

The value of the ministry of healing is not in the mere fact that people are healed.  The value of healing is more largely in the fact that it becomes a demonstration of the living, inner, vital power of God, which should dwell in every life and make us new and mighty men in the hands of God.

God, Ltd. [Limited] 3/27 Friday Faith

This is a favorite that I rerun every couple years.

Have you been to Canada?  Do you know when I went to Canada for the first time there was one thing that struck me peculiarly?  The signs would read, "John Brown, Ltd." ...
I was holding meetings in the old St. Andrews Church in Sidney.  I asked them one night why they did not put their national symbol on their churches.  They wondered what I meant.  I said, "Every other business house is 'Ltd.' Why don't you put it over the church?"
And old Scotchman said, "We don't have to .  Everybody knows it."
Limited?  Sure it is limited.  Limit God, limit ourselves, limit His grace, limit the Word. Sure, our God is a little bit of a God.  Most of us could carry Him in our vest pocket and it wouldn't budge the pocket -- our God with the "Ltd." on Him.
Brother, sister, that challenge comes to us today to LET GOD LOOSE.

A Good-Sized God 3/26 Thursday Thoughts

If any saint would dare to say, "I am done with disease and sickness; I will never be sick again,"  90 percent of you would say, "Keep your eye on that person. He will be sick in a week.  The devil sure will get them."  You believe the devil is bigger than God.  Your God is about one-and-a-half inches high, and the devil is one-and-a-half feet high.  What you need to do is to change gods and change gods quick.  There have been only a few folks that had a good-sized God.

Who's Bigger? Devil or God? 3/25 Wednesday Wisdom

Another man said, "Brother, I believe in the dual nature.  I believe that when I would do good, evil is always present with me, and I thank God that evil is always there."  You live it and believe it, and God cannot do anything with you.  You magnify failure and you deify failure until to the majority of you the devil is bigger than God.  And you are more afraid of the devil than you are of God.  You have more reverence for the devil than you have for God.  (to be continued)

The Triple Curse 3/24 Tuesday Truth

Sin, sickness, and death are doomed -- doomed to death by the decree of Christ Jesus.  Sin, sickness, and death are the devil's triumvirate -- the triple curse.
Heaven is the absence of this triple curse -- heaven is sinlessness, sicklessness, and deathlessness.  This is the ultimate of Christ's redemption.

Christ In You 3/23 Monday Meditation

Suppose I could get inside of Mrs. Lake.  Can you imagine such a thing?  She would be 190 pounds heavier than she is now.  She would have a voice like a pirate, and all the other characteristics of me.  She would be me.  Do you see it?
Oh, listen.  There is a divine secret in Christ's salvation.  It is Christ in fact in you by the Holy Ghost, dwelling in you, speaking in you, living in you, blazing in you, flashing from you, bless God.

A Prayer About the Corona Virus Concerns

This prayer was prepared by the Assemblies of God.  It covers every issue and concern very well:

Here is the prayer focus our worldwide Assemblies of God family will be praying:
• Father, thank You that “Your name is a strong tower, where the righteous can run to You and are safe” (Proverbs 18:10).
• We pray for those on the front lines of this response, including health officials who are working around the clock to protect us. Give them supernatural wisdom as they seek to create a vaccine and antidotes to combat this virus.
• We pray for courageous first responders in the medical field who are working for the health and safety of our communities in hospitals, clinics, and emergency rooms.
• We pray for You to grant wisdom to governmental leaders throughout the world, on both national and local levels, regarding actions to be taken to protect the citizens they serve. Your Word assures us that if any person lacks wisdom, we can ask You and You will give it generously.
• Lord, we lift to You our concern for people who are more likely than others to become severely ill from COVID-19—the elderly and people with chronic health conditions. Protect them from harm and be their comfort in this time of uncertainty.
• We pray for the health and well-being of those who have already been affected by this virus. Lord, during Your ministry on earth, You showed Your power by healing people of all ages from physical, mental and spiritual ailments. Be present now to people who need Your healing touch due to COVID-19. You are a God who heals ALL of our diseases.
• Lord, please also take away the fear, anxiety, and feelings of isolation from people receiving treatment and those under quarantine. Protect their families and friends and bring peace to all who love them.
• We pray for those who have been impacted financially from this interruption. Thank you, Lord, for supplying their needs according to Your riches and glory.
• We pray for a faith that will not only endure through this, but will grow, and lift up the name of Jesus—our Savior, Baptizer, Healer, and Soon-Coming King—as we remember Your greatness and know that NOTHING is too difficult for You.
• We pray for a spirit of peace and that a pandemic of hope would spread globally as Your people, who are called by Your name, live out their faith in the midst of this crisis.
• You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Thank You that You are the source of hope, and that You will fill us completely with joy and peace because we trust in You (Romans 15:13).
