Dare to Stand 1/1/13 Tuesday Truth

Wishing all of you a blessed new year!

Dare to stand in the presence of sense knowledge facts, and declare that you are what God says you are!

For instance sense knowledge declares that I am sick with an incurable illness. I confess that God laid that disease on Jesus and that Satan has no right to put it on me; that, "by his stripes I am healed." I am to hold fast to my confession in the face of apparent sense knowledge contradiction.

Sense knowledge says that it is not true; that I am confessing an untruth. But I am confessing what God says.

You see, there are two kinds of Truth: sense knowledge Truth, and revelation Truth; and they are usually opposed to each other.

I live in the new realm above the senses, so I hold fast to my confession that I am what the Word says I am.

The Righteousnes of God 12/31 Monday Meditation

But you ask, "What is the righteousness of God?"

It is the ability to stand in the Father's presence without the sense of guilt, condemnation or inferiority.

It is the ability to stand there as the very sons and daughters of God Almighty so that you can go boldly unto the throne of grace and make your petitions just as Jesus would if He were here.

Defeated By Your Words 12/28 Friday Faith

You said that you could not, and the moment that you said it you were whipped.

You said you did not have faith, and doubt arose like a giant and bound you.

You are imprisoned with your own words.

You talked failure, and failure held you in bondage.

Prov. 6:2: "Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth. Thou art taken (captive) with the words of thy mouth."

Few of us realize that our words dominate us.

A young man said, "I was never whipped until I confessed I was whipped."

Another said, "The moment I began to make a bold, confident confession, a new courage that I had never known took possession of me."

Remember What You Are 12/27 Thursday Thoughts

Every disease is of the Adversary.

All kinds of sin are of the Adversary.

All opposition to the glad tidings is of the Adversary.

God and I are victors.

Greater is He that is in me than this opposition or this disease.

There is no need that is greater than my Lord.

Three is no lack that He cannot meet.

This indomitable will that God has wrought in you cannot be overwhelmed, or conquered.

You remember what you are -- you are a New Creation. You are a branch of the vine.

You are an heir of God.

Take Your Position 12/26 Wednesday Wisdom

You take your position in Christ that you are more than a conqueror, that no matter what the testing may be God cannot let you fail.

You are not standing on sense evidence.

You are not standing on the faith of other people.

You are standing squarely upon His own Word.

Your confidence is not in the prayers of others, but in this unchanging, unbreakable Word.

If you confess . . . 12/24 Monday Meditation

Our faith or unbelief is determined by our confession.

Few of us realize the effect of our spoken word on our own heart or on our adversary.

He hears us make our confession of failure, of sickness, of lack, and apparently he doesn't forget; and we unconsciously go down to the level of our confession.

No one ever rises above it.

If you confess sickness, it develops sickness in your system.

If you confess doubt, the doubts become stronger.

If you confess lack of finances, it stops the money from coming in.

You say, "I can't understand this."

No. Because most of us live in the sense realm and spiritual things are very indistinct.

Sorry if you were expecting a Christmas mediation! It's very hard to find seasonal thoughts by the Pentecostal pioneers. This will be the last meditation for a couple days. I wish you all a very blessed Christmas!!!

What Does the Resurrection Mean? 12/20 Thursday Thoughts

Jesus was raised from the dead.

But what does that Resurrection mean?

That the sin problem was settled.

That Satan was conquered.

Humanity was redeemed.

That God an now on legal grounds impart His Nature, Eternal Life, to man and make him a New Creation. At last man can become God's actual child, a very son.

There can be perfect fellowship between them.

When God imparted His Nature to man, He imparted His Righteousness. So man is a partaker of the Divine Nature and the Righteousness of God.

Man can stand in the Father's presence as did Jesus in His Earth walk.

The Realm of Miracles 12/20 Thursday Thoughts

If we pray at all, we expect prayer to be answered.

If that prayer is answered, God has done it; and if God has answered prayer He has performed something outside of the Realm of Reason.

We will have to give up our prayer life utterly, or we will have to believe in Miracles.

I believe in Miracles.

I believe in divine intervention.

I believe that the prayer of Faith reaches God our Father, and when it reaches Him He acts in response to that Faith.

When He acts in response to our Faith, His action is above our reason. It is in the Realm of Miracles.

Tuesday, December 18, 2012

Prayer and Miracles 12/19 Wednesday Wisdom

You can't have prayers answered without having Miracles performed.

If you deny that Miracles are for this age, you deny the need and the privileges and the benefits of prayer.

The two-fold value of prayer lies first in sitting in His presence, or in direct Fellowship with the Father.

The second benefit is the answer that comes to us. . . .

For God the Father to hear my prayer is equivalent to His answering it. . . .

For God to answer my prayer, regardless of its natures, is a Miracle.

Prayer Channels 12/18 Tuesday Truth

Certain men and women are led to become the prayer channels for a whole congregation.

So few of us, in our busy lives, take time to pray, that the Spirit searches through the congregation for the willing hearts that will deny themselves some of the common pleasures and will be first in the line of prayer instead of last.

On these willing hearts rolls the burden of the entire church. . . .

Force yourself into the prayer life. Regardless of how you feel, drive yourself to prayer. . . .

You are praying to the Father.

You are praying in the Name of Jesus.

You are praying through the Holy Spirit.

Your prayer is based upon the Word.

Dare to Climb 12/17 Monday Meditation

So, let us dare to climb the heights of God.

Let us say without fear, "I am what He says I am."

"He is in me what He says He is."

"I can do, with His ability in me, what He says I can."

Right of Way 12/14 Friday Faith

God wasn't any more His [Jesus's] Father than He is ours.

He [Jesus] said, "The Father loveth you even as He loves me."

He was the Son of God.

You are a son of God.

He was Deity.

You are a partaker of the Divine Nature, that is Deity.

He had the Holy Spirit dwelling in Him.

You have the Holy Spirit dwelling in you.

The difference is that Jesus gave the Holy Spirit right of way in a sense of which we have never yet learned.

He took advantage of the God-life within Him in a way we have never yet been able to take advantage of the God-life within us.

Know Your Privileges 12/13 Thursday Thoughts

The more that I study the life of Jesus, I am convinced that He did not exercise divine power in excess of what every intelligent child of God possesses today.

The difference is that Jesus knew what belonged to Him and Jesus used His rights.

We do not know what belongs to us. Not knowing what is ours, we cannot use our rights.

When Jesus cast out demons, He used authority that He has delegated to the church.

He said, "In my Name ye shall cast out demons." . . .

Let me state it again: I am convinced that intelligent children of the Lord could walk in the same life and power and divine liberty as Jesus walked, if they understood their privileges.

Prayer is a Visit 12/12 Wednesday Wisdom

This prayer habit will be born of your own will.

This habit is hard to form for most people. It should never be a duty, for just as we do not enjoy those who visit us because it is their duty, so it is with the Father.

We want those who love us to come because they cannot help it.

Prayer is a visit with the Father.

We should think of it as a rare opportunity.

What Prayer Can Mean 12/11 Tuesday Truth

Now we see what prayer can mean.

It isn't the old idea of getting on our knees and crying and begging.

It is a son coming into the Father's Presence for one of our brethren who has been injured, or for one who for some reason cannot come and make his appeal personally. We come on his behalf and ask for a blessing.

Or it may be that we are taking up the need of the great unsaved world.

We stand there in fulness of Fellowship and fulness of Joy to get a portion for another.

This is entering by the New and Living Way.

This is coming boldly to the Throne of Grace.

This is fellowshipping the Father.

This is visiting with Him.

It is not coming into His Presence as the Jews came into the presence of Jehovah, or as a sinner would approach, but we are coming as sons and daughters.

We are taking our place.

The Last Barrier 12/10 Monday Meditation

Can't you hear Him say, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him, and will drink with him?" (Rev. 3:20)

Now what does it mean to us?

It means that the last barrier between the Father and the children has been put away.

We may come into His Presence now with the same freedom that Jesus had.

(to be continued)

What Prayer Should Be 12/7 Friday Faith

Prayer should be as natural as breathing and as enjoyable as eating.

Prayer should be as unconscious as our communication with each other.

We Have a Place 12/6 Thursday Thoughts

Every one of us has a place in the prayer life.

God has no unused members. . . .

If anyone thinks that because of lack of training or for lack of this or that, he hasn't a place, he is deluded by the enemy.

You have a place.

With that place comes responsibility. . . .

To see a need is to have a call to prayer.

There are people who will be utterly lost unless you take your place. . . .

The prayer responsibility today is the most important thing of our lives.

WHY? 12/5 Wednesday Wisdom

Why did He redeem us? Why make us New Creations? Why make us righteous? Why dwell in us? Why give us the Name? Why say that in Jesus' Name we could cast out demons?

What did He expect us to do after making us all this? Just to be good, neutral sons who never face the enemy; who simply read the Word but never act on it; who do not take our Redemption and New Creation seriously? . . .

Must we say that tanks, planes and bombs are to rule the world?

Or is God still living, and are we tied up with Him?

Inner Life of Prayer 12/4 Tuesday Truth

From our inner life of prayer there gushes forth a torrent of the very life of God that speeds on its way to that one who is in need. No one knows about the fulness of this. We are in the very infancy of this prayer life. . . .

This is cooperating with Him. God through you is ruling the demons and evil forces all over the world. You become His voice in that Name.

Prayer Is Vital Contact 12/3 Monday Meditation

Prayer means vital contact with the Father. We are near enough to Him to breathe in His very presence.

Prayer means that we have come boldly into the throne room and are standing in His presence.

It is more than bringing Him on the scene. It is going into the presence of the Father and Jesus in an executive meeting, laying our needs before them and making our requisitions for ability, or grace, healing for someone, or victory for someone . . .

The Call to Prayer 11/30 Friday Faith

The call to prayer is the Father's invitation to visit with Him. . . .

It is sons visiting their Father. It is children coming joyously into the presence of a Loving Parent.

Faith vs. Evidence 11/29 Thursday Thoughts

For me to act when I have evidence is not faith. I require no faith when I have physical evidence. You see, faith is giving substance to a thing that is not. I am giving thanks to the Father for the money to pay the bills before the money has arrived.

More Joy 11/28 Wednesday Wisdom

Let us form the habit of thinking that His will for us has more joy in it than anything which is contrary to His will.

Let us eduate ourselves in the consciousness that His will is best; that His will has permanent joy and gladness in it; His will has success in it.

Start the Day with Him 11/27 Tuesday Truth

If you start the day with Him, you will fellowship with Him. When you awaken in the morning you whisper softly, "Good morning, Father. Here is another day to live and walk with Thee."

Whatever problem confronts you, you consult Him in your heart.

If it is wisdom that you need, you thank Him for it. If it is love to meet a disagreeable situation, He is there in you to take you over and live His own life through you.

E.W. Kenyon 11/26 Monday Meditation

We are going to return to E.W. Kenyon quotes for a while, quoting from his book, In His Presence. Kenyon (1867-1948) was a forefather of the Word of Faith movement. He was a close friend of Christian and Missionary Alliance founder A.B. Simpson, and they often traded pulpits. Here is a link to a brief tribute to Kenyon's faith and ministry:

http://peterwade.com/articles/kenyon/index.shtml

In the morning you take stock. You say, "He and I are going together. I have access to His ability, His wisdom, His love, His grace, His strength to meet every issue that confronts me. I shall have physical strength for every need today. I shall have wisdom to meet every issue. I shall have love no matter what the provocation may be."

Triumph 11/21 Wednesday Wisdom

This will be the final post for the week. I'll be taking a Thanksgiving break. We'll return next week with quotes from E.W. Kenyon.

[Jesus] said, . . . "All power is given unto Me, both in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore. These signs shall follow. Cast out devils, speak with new tongues, heal the sick." Amen. (Mark 16:17-18 paraphrased)

In those early centuries of Christianity, Christianity did not go into the world apologizing. It went to slay the powers of darkness and undo the works of the devil, and it lived in holy triumph. -- John G. Lake

Consciousness of God 11/20 Tuesday Truth

God's purpose, and the purpose of real religion, is to create in the nature of man a consciousness of God. And that church which will succeed in creating the highest degree of consciousness of God in the soul of man will live longest in the world. And the only mode of possibility of perpetuating a church in the world forever is to bring into the souls of the people the full measure of the consciousness of God that Jesus Christ enjoys.

The Real Christian 11/19 Monday Meditaton

So the real Christian ought to be the kingliest man in the whole earth, the princeliest man in the whole earth -- as kingly and princely and lovely and holy as the Son of God -- as big as Jesus, with the power of Jesus, and the love of Jesus.

-- John G. Lake

God's Ideal of a Christian 11/16 Friday Faith

God's ideal of a Christian is not a man who is ready to go to heaven, nor a man who lives a good life in this world, nor a man who has victory over sin, nor victory over disease. It includes all these things, but it is ten thousand times more than that.

11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ. Ephesians 4:11-13

And that is the ideal of my heart and that somehow in God's divine grace, by the wonderful processes of His Spirit, He is going to help me to grow up out of babyhood and infancy into the stature of Jesus Christ. And that is God's ideal for the Christian. -- John G. Lake

Sole Aim of the Gospel 11/15 Thursday Thoughts

When I was a boy, I thought the sole aim and object of the Gospel was to keep from going to hell. A good many other folks observe Christianity from that point of view yet. After awhile, evangelists changed the idea somewhat. They began to teach that the object of being a Christian was not to keep from going to hell, but to go to heaven. Then I began reasoning. I said, "One is just as selfish as the other." The one gets saved to keep from going to hell and the other one gets saved to get to heaven. Both are wholly selfish and neither one is the real purpose of Jesus.

Jesus gave one final reason for men being Christians, and strangely very few people have ever discovered, even from the Word of God, what that real purpose is. . . .

To manifest the righteousness of God is the real reason for a man's desiring to be a Christian -- not to go to heaven when he dies or to keep out of hell, but to reveal the righteousness of God in this world. And then heaven and all our rewards will be the natural result of having lived in unity with God and having revealed His righteousness in this world.

The Presence of God 11/14 Wednesday Wisdom

We have not yet learned to keep in touch with the powers of God. Once in a while our soul rises, and we see the flame of God accomplish this wonder and that. But beloved, Jesus Christ lived in the presence of God every hour of the day and night. Never a word proceeded from the mouth of Jesus Christ but what was God's Word. "The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." (John 6:63)

When you and I are lost in the Son of God, and the fires of Jesus burn in our hearts like they did in Him, our words will be the words of life and of spirit, and there will be no death in them. -- John G. Lake

Sleep 11/13 Tuesday Truth

Yesterday, Brother Fogwill quoted that wonderful scripture that, "He giveth his beloved sleep." (Psalm 127:2) And last night after retiring it was impossible for me to sleep. I said, "Dear Lord, I am Your beloved, and I want to sleep," and I slept like a child all night. If you have any trouble with sleeplessness, and you are the beloved of God, just make God come through with His promise.

Honor, Might, Glory, Blessing 11/12 Monday Meditation

So I have become an enthusiast for the Son of God. His salvation to me is the mightiest conception that ever dawned in the nature of man or God. And I long and pray and rejoice in the expectation of a day to come when the universal race of man and the angels in heaven and creatures of earth will join in one glad song of holy power and glory to the Son of God, saying as the Scriptures indicate, "Honor and might and glory and blessing be unto Him who liveth forever and ever. Amen. (See Revelation 5:12-14).

The Eternal Healer 11/9 Friday Faith

To my heart Jesus Christ is the Eternal Healer. He was the Healer in the beginning. He was the Healer before there was any flood. He was the Healer after the flood. He was the Healer during His earth life. He is the Healer in this dispensation. He is the Healer forever! Bless God. So long as need of healing exists, Jesus is the Healer. Blessed be His name.

We May Know HIm 11/8 Thursday Thoughts

We may know Him as an historic character, we may know Him as the ideal man, we may know Him as the Christ and Savior, but we do not know Him as the living God who imparts His own nature and life and power to us until we know Him as the Scripture says, in the Holy Ghost. (See 1 Corinthians 12:3)

A Glorious Day 11/7 Wednesday Wisdom

Salvation is a progressive condition. The difficulty with church has been that men were induced to confess their sins to Christ and acknowledge Him as Savior and there they stopped, there they petrified, there they withered, there they died, dry rotted. I believe that in these phrases I have expressed the real thing that has taken place in 85 percent of professing Christians in the world. Oh, bless God, we never saw Christ's intention. That day away back there, when the glory light of God first shone into my soul, was a glorious day, the best I had ever known to that moment.

But, beloved, it would be a sorrowful thing in my life if I was compelled to look back to that day as the best. No, bless God, there were better days than that. There were days when the Lord God took me into His confidence and revealed His nature and revealed His purpose and revealed His love and revealed His ministry. Yea, bless God, there came a day when God once more, in His loving mercy, endowed me with the Spirit of God to be and perform the things that He had planted in my soul and had revealed in His own blessed Word and life. -- John G. Lake

What Is Man? 11/6 Tuesday Truth

I once listened to an eminent divine preaching from the text, "What is man?" and when he got through I had a feeling that man was a kind of whipped cur with his tail between his legs, sneaking out to throw himself into the lake saying, "Here goes nothing." I said, "He has never caught the fire of the thing Jesus is endeavoring to teach through the apostle -- that man was the crowning creation of God. That God endowed him with a nature and qualities that by the grace of God can express more of God than any other of God's creations. That God purposed by the Holy Spirit to make the salvation of Jesus Christ so real in the nature of man that 'He that sanctifieth (Jesus Christ) and they that are sanctified' through His grace are both of one nature, of one substance, of one character -- one in life, one in the righteousness of His death, and one in the consequent dominion that came because of His resurrection and glory."

Not "don't" but "be" 11/5 Monday Meditation

Men are afraid to say yes to God. When a young man, I sat in a little meeting one night when the Spirit was talking to my heart. I said, "If I am going to be a Christian, I cannot do this, and I cannot do that." Oh, mighty God, it almost makes my soul vomit in these days to think of the average conception man has of Christianity.

About ninety percent of so-called Christianity is all spelled with four letters, d-o-n'-t. Don't do this and don't do that. The individual restraining himself, putting himself in a harness, walking according to laws and ordinances, etc. Why bless God, religion is all contained in two letters, b-e. Not performing acts, but being the thing that God purposed.

Secret of Abundant Life 11/2 Friday Faith

This is the secret of the abundant life of which Jesus spoke. Jesus said, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly" (John 10:10). The reason we have the more abundant life is because that, receiving God into our being, all the springs of our being are quickened by His living presence. Consequently, if we are living today and we receive God, we live life in a fuller measure. We live life with a greater energy, because we become the recipients of the energy of the living God in addition to our normal energy, through the reception of His being, His nature, His life into ours.

The Second Body 11/1 Thursday Thoughts

All that Jesus was to the world He purposed that the Church of Christ should be. First, He blessed the world through His own physical personality. Second, He established a physical body, composed of many members, joined in one by the Spirit of God.

When He established the second body, the Church, He never intended that it should be of lesser authority or of lesser power than the first. It was His real purpose that the second body, the Church, should exercise and fully accomplish all that the first had done.

-- John G. Lake (This all falls under the doctrine of Kingdom Authority.)

No Groaning 10/31 Wednesday Wisdom

I have always wondered how a Christian could be anything less than an optimist. It is a sad thing when you hear Christians with a groan in them. When I meet the groaner I say in my heart, "God, move the man on into that place where he comprehends what Christianity is." The Christian with a groan in him never moved the world except to groans.

Holiness and Power 10/30 Tuesday Truth

Not long ago I stood before great audiences of the churchmen of the world. They said, "Through all your ministry there is one note. It is the call for power." They said, "Do you not think it would be better if the Church was calling for holiness instead of power?"

And I replied, "She will never obtain the one without the other. There is something larger than holiness. It is the nature of God."

Hunger 10/29 Monday Meditation

"Blessed are they that hunger." Bless God! What are we hungering for, a LITTLE BIT of God? Enough to take us through this old world where we will have the dry rot and be stunted and then squeeze into heaven? "Blessed are they that HUNGER," for the NATURE and POWER and LOVE and UNDERSTANDING of God. Why? "They shall be FILLED."

Purging Power 10/26 Friday Faith

Think not to come within the court of God with stain upon thy garments. Think not that heaven can smile upon a nature fouled through evil contact. Think not that Christ can dwell in temples seared by flames of hate. No! The heart of man must first be purged by holy fire and washed from every stain by cleansing blood. Know ye not that he whose nature is akin to God's must ever feel the purging power of Christ within?

Separate Yourself 10/24 Wednesday Wisdom

"Prepare ye that way of the Lord, Make His paths straight." You want God to come and bless your own life? Then separate yourself from the superficialities and formalities that have possessed your mind and taken your attention, and come back with directness and simplicity to God and He will bless your soul.

Let Your Soul Awake 10/23 Tuesday Truth

An old brother who was recently healed was a Methodist local preacher. He was 73 years old. He said to me with tears, "I have spent almost my little all on the doctors, medicine, etc., during the last four years of my sickness. My wife and I are old. We have gone past the time when I can earn any more money." And he was troubled. He said, "I would give the little all I have left if I could be well."

I said, "Brother, how long have you been preaching the Gospel?"

He said, "Fifty years." Think of that -- a half century.

I said, "Brother, haven't you been in the habit of calling on God and getting answers to your prayers?"

He said, "Yes, I have."

I said, "Well Brother, why have you not called on God to take away this evil thing, this sickness that is on your life?"

His old eyes opened with wonder and he said, "I never thought of it."

He went home amazed. He and his old wife came back every few days, and they said it was such an awakening that he could look up to God to take away his sickness the same as he could pray about anything else. Yet he had been preaching the Gospel fifty years.

Men are looked upon as strange when they turn their faith to Christ and come back to the Gospel. To him, "Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make His paths straight," was to let his soul awake to Christ's purpose to save and to bless in every department of his life.

Possessor of the Spirit 10/22 Monday Meditation

While Jesus was discussing this subject with the disciples, He said, "He is with you," that is, the Comforter. "He is with you, and shall be in you."

There is a definite possession of the Spirit of God by which the individual becomes the conscious possessor of the Spirit of God. Indeed, the Word of God puts it in this forceful manner. "Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you?" (I Cor. 6:19, paraphrased) It is God's purpose, as outlined by Jesus Christ and this Word from cover to cover, that man shall be the conscious possessor of the Spirit of the living God, the Holy Ghost.

Consciousness of the Word 10/18 Friday Faith

I tell you, beloved, that the external evidences of God and the power of His Spirit, no matter how wonderful, are a small matter compared with the consciousness of the Word of God in the human heart; in your heart and mine.

Baptism of the Holy Spirit 10/18 Thursday Thoughts

The baptism of the Holy Spirit was the common experience of New Testament times. The New Testament was written by men who had the baptism of the Holy Spirit. It was written to churches that possessed the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Indeed, in my study of the New Testament the disciples seemed to consider it essential that each individual should himself possess the baptism of the Spirit. When Paul came down to Ephesus the first question he asked them was, "Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?" (Acts 19:2)

The World Has Never . . . 10/17 Wednesday Wisdom

Indeed, beloved, I have felt, and I feel today, that the world has never had a proper comprehension of the Lord Jesus Christ. We all realize the common conception of the Christ as it has been presented to us by the Church at large. And I want to say with all frankness that while in a large measure that conception of the Church largely is true, yet it is ten thousand miles below the real standard or God's conception of presentation of the Christ as I see it in the Word of God, as the Spirit of God had has made my own consciousness aware of.

A Good Foundation 10/16 Tuesday Truth

For the Church of God and Christian faith to become strong and to be built up in God, it is necessary to get a good foundation. It is a greater problem with most builders to get the old rubbish out of the way than to do the building. If we will look at our own lives, we will observe this: that the things that have been rooted and grounded in our hearts -- some tradition of the Fathers, some of it misconception of the meaning of the Word of God; much of our teaching is fragmented -- these form the greatest obstacles to the engrafting of the living Word of God. Every one of us who have progressed in God have found that the difficulty was not in believing the Word of God, but the difficulty was to get away from things that were settled in our own being as facts, though untrue. How hardly have we struggled over the matter of, "If it be Thy will," concerning sickness. From our babyhood and all down through the generations, we have been taught that if you are sick, the proper thing to do is to pray, "If it be Thy will," forgetting all the time that the Lord has forever demonstrated and declared His eternal will concerning the subject of sickness by healing all that come to Him.

The Latter Day Church 10/15 Monday Meditation

It was that consciousness of God's presence and God's power in the disciples and the Church of the first centuries that wrote across the pages of history the wonderful, wonderful record of Christianity of the first four hundred years. There were thirty million Christian martyrs, those who were slaughtered in the Christian wars, etc. Thirty million gave up their lives for the Christ. There was a spirit that made it so intense, so powerful, that had such a power of induction that the world got out. Bless God.

But there came a day when the Church traded the communion of the Holy Ghost for the smile of the world, and then the long, long night of the middle centuries followed.

But bless God, I tell you we are living in a day and hour when the Spirit of God has come into the world afresh, when the consciousness of mankind is opening up to God in a manner that they have never opened before. There is an awakening in the world from ocean to ocean, from pole to pole, as there never was before. And I believe, bless God, that God Almighty's outpouring of the Spirit upon all flesh is at hand. And though we are receiving the droppings and our hearts are being warmed under the impulse of the Spirit, the day is not far distant when the flame of God will catch the soul of mankind. And the Church of the latter day will close this era with a place of divine glory excelling that of the early Church.

This is according to the prophecy of the Word. "If the former rain was abundant, shall not the latter rain be more abundant." (Deuteronomy 11:14, paraphrased)

Receive Power 10/12 Friday Faith

"Ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you." (Acts 1:8) We are entitled to it, bless God. We are glad to see some of it and wish, bless God, that we might see a great deal more. And beloved, I have a splendid conviction in my heart that we will.

Exalted Place 10/11 Thursday Thoughts

Indeed, I have this in my heart, that the low state of Christian experience that is common among men is mostly accounted for by this one fact: that Christians have failed to grasp the exalted place into which Jesus Christ puts us when we have been made sons of God.

"Nothing Out of the Ordinary" 10/10 Wednesday Wisdom

This is one of my favorite John G. Lake quotes. Healing was so common that it was "nothing out of the ordinary". God, give us this kind of faith today!

At the tabernacle service Thursday night, it was a very sweet service with nothing out of the ordinary. Mrs. Arlow of Wurther, instantly healed of violent internal inflammation.

Exercise 10/9 Tuesday Truth

Beloved, we have seen that the Holy Ghost came into the Church at Pentecost and that those gifts are there also, but through lack of faith we do not see them exercised.

John G. Lake 10/8 Monday Meditation

John G. Lake (1870-1935) had one of the greatest evangelistic / healing ministries of all time, along with Smith Wigglesworth and Maria Woodworth-Etter. He got serious about the Word of God after seeing nearly every relative in his enormous family die of horrible diseases. After Lake got ahold of the Word, four family members were instantly healed of longstanding conditions. His ministry centered in South Africa and later in Spokane, Washington. His ministry recorded over 100,000 healings in Spokane alone in five years.

And now, beloved, is the Holy Ghost in the Church today? Verily, yes. But you say, "We don't see Him work in this way in our church!" Why? Because you say, "All these things were for apostolic days." Can you find anywhere in the Scriptures that the gifts of the Holy Ghost were withdrawn from the Church of Christ? There is no biblical authority for such an assertion, but rather we read, "The gifts and calling of God are without repentance" (Romans 11:29).

Floods of Blessing 10/5 Friday Faith

It is not His will that we should be limited to occasional dews of His grace, but His unbounded mercy reveals itself in the promise of “floods” of blessing “upon the dry ground".

How Precious We Are 10/4 Thursday Thoughts

Read with me Deuteronomy 32:9-14. That the Lord’s people are the Lord’s portion is a precious thought, for He left everything in order that He might have this portion. So, I believe the Lord means for us to realize how very, very precious we are to Him. We remember how in our own experience He found us in a “desert land” and in the “waste howling wilderness,” and led us about and instructed us and kept us as the apple of His eye.

Unspeakable Hunger 10/3 Wednesday Wisdom

As I went on with the Lord I felt an unspeakable hunger springing up within me for more of God. I hardly knew how to pray, but would sometimes turn to my Heavenly Father and say to Him, ‘What dost Thou want?” ; because it seemed to me it was more His desire to obtain full possession of me than my desire for Himself.

Open Thy Mouth Wide 10/2 Tuesday Truth

Jesus bids us “ask and receive” that our “joy may be full.” We obey His command in asking, but we do not throw open our souls that we may receive. God’s word to us is, “Open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it” (Psa. 81:10), yet we do not pause in our cries of hunger to accept what is so freely offered.

What Does the Holy Spirit Do? 10/1 Monday Meditation

We are going to take a break from Smith Wigglesworth. This week I am sharing some miscellaneous quotes that I have collected. Next week we will begin quotes from John G. Lake.

What does the Spirit do? His works are ineffable in majesty, and innumerable in quantity. How can we even ponder what extends beyond the ages? What did He do before creation began? How great are the graces He showered on creation? What power will He wield in the age to come? He existed; He pre-existed; He co-existed with the Father and the Son before the ages. Even if you can imagine anything beyond the ages, you will discover that the Spirit is even further beyond.

God Is Our Foundation 9/28 Friday Faith

God is our foundation, the Word of God is our standing. We are here to glorify God. I know how weak I am. Struggle, are we to struggle? No, no! Believe what God has said. . . God wants to give us divine life from heaven. The gates of hell shall not prevail against it. The rock of deliverance by the key of faith. You shall open the kingdom of heaven and shut the gates of hell. You shall bind and loose in Jesus' Name.

No Evil Power Can Remain 927 Thursday Thoughts

No devil or evil power should be allowed to remain where we are. Jesus was teaching His disciples that as they believe greater thing would be accomplished because He was going. Upon this Rock! Upon this living faith will I build My Church. Whatsoever ye bind or loose on earth shall be bound or loosed in heaven, (Matthew 16:19). Keep in mind this word, Satan has tremendous power in the world, and people suffer as they never would if they only knew the truth, which cannot be gainsaid [contradicted]. Upon this Rock will I build My Church. The Kingdom, the new birth come with power, upon this Rock, this living faith.

God Is Visiting the Earth 9/26 Wednesday Wisdom

God is visiting the earth with His resplendent glory. His coming is to revive, to heal, to deliver from the power of the pit. The ransom is the Lord, and He comes to save the oppressed, whose eyes, ears, and heart shall see, hear, and feel with a new beauty.

When We Are Weak 9/25 Tuesday Truth

Resting Unconditionally 9/24 Monday Meditation

If thou wilt believe. Awake to the fact, knowing the Scriptures, resting unconditionally, absolutely upon the Word of God. God has never failed anyone relying upon His Word. Some human plan or your mind may come between, but rest upon what God's Word says. Only believe.

Keep Your Mind on God 9/21 Friday Faith

Back from a four-day tour bus trip to New York City.

I knew a brother who carried out bags of coal. He had been in bed three weeks away from his work. I showed him a verse in Romans 7:25. "I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord.  So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin." I said, "Keep your mind on God and go to work, shout victory." He did, and the first day he was able to carry a hundred bags, his mind stayed on God and kept in peace. If your peace is disturbed, there is something wrong. If you are not free in the Spirit, your mind is in the wrong place.

The Place Where He Is 9/14 Friday Faith

Oh, to be found in the place where He is -- always there, never out of order. How did He get there? He was there all the time. We need to have our eyes open. Always there, to bring us to the place where we are confident; the Lord is with us. There is such a place; Abraham touched it. Jesus lived in it. Paul desired to have it. Have you got it?

Serve, Love, Be Filled 9/14 Thursday Thoughts

The Spirit of God will always reveal the Lord Jesus Christ. Serve Him, love Him, be filled with Him. It is lovely to hear Him as He makes Himself known to us. He is the same yesterday; today and forever. He is willing to fill us with the Holy Ghost and faith just as He filled Stephen.

God's Thought 9/12 Wednesday Wisdom

It is God's thought to make us a new creation, with all the old things passed away and all things within us truly of God, to bring in a new, divine order, a perfect love and an unlimited faith. Will you have it? Redemption is free. Arise in the activity of faith and God will heal you as you rise. Only believe and receive in faith. Stephen, full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, did great signs and wonders. May God bless to us this word and fill us full of His Holy Spirit, and through the power of the Holy Ghost more and more reveal Christ in us.

His Right of Way 9/11 Tuesday Truth

Once a woman rose in the meeting asking for prayer. I prayed for her and she was healed. She cried out, "It is a miracle! It is a miracle! It is a miracle!" That is what God wants to do for us ALL the time. As sure as we get free in the Holy Ghost something will happen. Let us pursue the best things and let God have His right of way.

Filled With His Spirit 9/10 Monday Meditation

I see that Stephen, full of faith and of power, did great wonders and miracles among the people. This same Holy Ghost filling is for us, and right things will be accomplished if we are filled with His Spirit. God will grant it. He declares that the desires of the righteous shall be granted. Stephen was an ordinary man made extraordinary in God. We may be very ordinary, but God wants to make us extraordinary in the Holy Ghost. God is ready to touch and to transform you right now.

So Much More for Us 9/7 Friday Faith

I will be giving the healing teaching at our quarterly healing night at Ekklesia Prayer Room, 2 E. Seminary St., Friday, September 7, at 7 PM. Come and join us, either to learn, to receive healing, or to pray. Worship by Mike Fenwick and Pastor Larry Klaiber.

In a meeting a man rose and said, "Will you touch me, I am in a terrible way. I have a family of children, and through an accident in the pit I have had no work for two years. I cannot open my hands. I was full of sorrow for this poor man and something happened which had never come before. We are in the infancy of this wonderful outpouring of the Holy Spirit and there is so much more for us. I put out my hand, and before my hands reached his, he was loosed and make perfectly free.

River Running Deep 9/6 Thursday Thoughts

I am back from vacation in Kansas and ready with another batch of Wigglesworth quotes!

In the meeting a young man stood up, a pitiful object, with a face full of sorrow. I said, "What is it, young man?" He said he was unable to work, he could scarcely walk. He said, "I am so helpless. I have consumption and a weak heart, and my body is full of pain." I said, "I will pray for you." I said to the people, "As I pray for this young man, you look at his face and see it change." As I prayed his face changed. . . I said to him, "Go out and run a mile and come back to the meeting." He came back and said, "I can now breathe freely." The meetings were continuing and I missed him. After a few days I saw him again in the meeting. I said, "Young man, tell the people what God has done for you." "Oh," he said, "I have been to work. I bought some papers and I have made $4.50." Praise God, this wonderful stream of salvation never runs dry. You can take a drink, it is close to you. It is a river that is running deep and there is plenty for all.

I will be giving the healing teaching for the quarterly healing night at Ekklesia Prayer Room, 2 E. Seminary St., Norwalk (SE corner of Benedict and Seminary), this Friday, Sept. 7, at 7 PM. Come and join us.

Full of Faith 8/30 Thursday Thougths

Stephen was a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost. God declares it. God so manifested Himself in Stephen's body that he became an epistle of truth, known and read of all. Full of faith! Such men never talk doubt. You never hear them say, "I wish it could be so; or if it is God's will." No if's. They know. You never hear them say, "Well, it does not always act." They say, "It is sure to be." The laugh at impossibilities and cry, "It shall be done!" A man full of faith hopes against hope. He shouts while the walls are up and they come down while he shouts! God has this faith for us in Christ. We must be careful that no unbelief is found in us, no wavering.

Never the Same Again 8/29 Wednesday Wisdom

God wants us to be like Stephen, full of faith and full of the Holy Ghost. You can never be the same again after you have received this wonderful baptism in the Holy Spirit. It is important that day by day we should be full of wisdom and faith, and full of the Holy Ghost, acting by the power of the Holy Ghost. God has set us here in the last days, these of apostasy, and would have us be burning and shining lights in the midst of an untoward generation. God is longing for us to come into such a fruitful position as the sons of God, with the marks of heaven upon us, His divinity bursting through our humanity, so that He can express Himself through our lips of clay. He can take clay lips, weak humanity, and make of such an oracle [spokesperson] of Himself. He can take frail human nature and by His divine power make our bodies meet to be His holy temple, washing our hearts whiter than snow.

He'll Never Forget Me 8/28 Tuesday Truth

If we dare come believing, God will heal, God will restore, will lift the burden and wake us up to real overcoming faith. Look up! Take courage! Jesus has shaken the foundations of death and darkness. He fighteth for you and there is none like Him. He is the great I AM. His name is above every name. As we believe we are lifted into a place of rest, a place of conformity to Him. He says to us as He did to Abraham, "...I will bless thee... and thou shalt be a blessing" (Genesis 12:2). He says to us as He did to His people of old, "With lovingkindness have I drawn thee." Hallelujah! "He'll never forget to keep me, He'll never forget to keep me; my Father has many dear children, but He'll never forget to keep me." Believe it. He will never forget.

Take Him at His Word 8/27 Monday Meditation

"Greater works than these shall ye do." You say, "How"? Only believe. What is it to believe? It is to have such confidence in what the Lord said that we take Him at His Word because He said it. Glory to God.

Greater Works 8/24 Friday Faith

What I want to impress upon you is that we must see these greater works that the Lord promised we should see. Listen, "Greater works than these shall ye do, because I go to My Father." "And whatsoever ye shall ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son." What is it that you want? "Whatsoever ye shall ask in my Name, that will I do." Glory to God. Is there any purpose in it? Yes, "that the Father may be glorified in the Son."

Greater Works 8/23 Thursday Thoughts

According to the Blogspot counter, yesterday's post was my 500th post in this blog.

There is something very remarkable and forceful in this verse. It says, "Verily, verily, I say unto you ... greater works than these shall ye do." In the power of His Name there is power against the devil, and all his hosts. It is a marvelous force against all these things. Glory to God.

The Word Cannot Fail 8/22 Wednesday Wisdom

The Word of God cannot fail, because it is the living Word. Listen to the words of Jesus as He says, "Greater works than these shall ye do." I know as truly as I stand upon this platform that we shall see the rising tide of blessing and divine healing go forth with greater power, but Satan will always try to hinder the real work of God. Whenever the power of God is being manifested, Satan will be there tying to upset it. Satanic forces will be there, but God is greater.

Christ Forgave 8/20 Monday Meditation

I'm taking a one-day break from Smith Wigglesworth to share a great quote from D. L. Moody. It's a little long, but it's a fast read.

I can imagine, when Christ said to the little band around Him, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel," Peter said, "Lord, do You really mean that we are to go back to Jerusalem and preach the Gospel to those men who murdered You?"

"Yes," said Christ to Peter, "go hunt up that man who spit in My face and tell him he shall have a seat in My kingdom if he will accept salvation as a gift.

"Yes, Peter, go hunt up that man who made that cruel crown of thorns and placed it on My brow and tell him I will have a crown ready for him when he comes into My kingdom and no thorns in it. I will give him a crown of life.

"Peter, go hunt up the man who took a reed and brought it down over the cruel thorns, driving them into My brow, and tell him I will put a scepter in his hand, and he shall rule over the nations of the earth if he will accept salvation.

"Peter, go hunt up the man who drove the spear into My side and tell him there is a nearer way to My heart than that. Tell him I forgive him freely and that he can be saved if he will accept salvation as a gift.

"Peter, go hunt up the men who drove the nails into My hands and feet and tell them I forgive them freely. Tell them they shall have a seat in My kingdom if they will accept it. Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to EVERY creature."

More Than Overcomers 8/17 Friday Faith

Praise God, it is a fact! Jesus is in our body, and He is the express image of God, and He has come to our human weaknesses to change them and us into a divine substance so that by the power of His might we may not only overcome, but rejoice in the fact that we are more than overcomers. God wants you to have the last part -- more than overcomers! . . . The baptism of the Spirit has come for nothing less than to eat the whole of my life. It set up Jesus as King, and nothing can stand in His holy presence when He is made King.

Empowered for Any Emergency 8/16 Thursday Thoughts

We are a back number if we have to pray for power, if we have to wait until we feel a sense of His presence. The baptism of the Holy Ghost should empower you for any emergency. "Ye shall have power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you." Within you there is a greater power than there is in the world. Oh, to be awakened out of our unbelief into a place of daring for God! On the authority of the blessed Book!

He at last got me! 8/15 Wednesday Wisdom

It was a tremendous thought for me to know that I had received the Holy Ghost, but I am coming to a great wonderment of splendor to know that the Holy Ghost has at last got me! . . . Nothing less will please the Lord, only a constant, full burnt offering for God, where He is in absolute and inner authority over my whole being, until I am living, thinking, acting in the power of the Holy Ghost. Praise the Lord!

No Condemnation 8/14 Tuesday Truth

There is no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus -- no cloud -- nothing between -- oh the thrill of it. Hidden with Christ in God -- immersed, covered -- nothing can break through. It is the grace of God to be here, and as sure as we are here we shall be there. Receiving a Kingdom which cannot be moved, for our God is a consuming fire. There is something very beautiful about being in Christ in God, ready for everything -- ready!

An Abundant God 8/13 Monday Meditation

Do you not know that ours is an abundant God, who is able to do for us far exceeding and abundantly above all that we can ask or think? We are illuminated and quickened by the Spirit, looking forward to a day of rapture when we will be caught up and lifted into the presence of God. God's lines are magnitude -- wonderful and glorious!

Too Big 8/10 Friday Faith

There is no power that can convert a man except the power of the blood of Jesus. Brother, the carnal life is not subject to the will of God, neither indeed can be. Carnality is selfishness and uncleanness. It cannot be subject to God; it interferes with you; it brings and keeps you in bondage; but, beloved, God destroys carnality by a new life, which is so much better, and fills you with joy unspeakable and full of glory. The half can never be told. Everything that God does is too big to tell. His grace, His love, His mercy, His salvation, are all too big to understand.

Godlikeness 8/9 Thursday Thoughts

Brother, sister, I tell you there is a redemption, there is an atonement in Christ, a personality of Christ to dwell in you; there is a Godlikeness for you to attain unto; a blessed resemblance of Christ, of "God in you" that shall not fail if you believe the Word of God.

The Word of God 8/8 Wednesday Wisdom

It is one thing to read the Word of God, another thing to believe it. It is possible to be real and earnest and have zeal and fastings and yet not to have faith. And do you not know that one little bit of faith which can only come through the Word of God is worth more than all your cryings -- all your rolling on the floor -- all your screaming and everything; but beloved, God is better than anything.

May the Holy Ghost give us today an inward knowledge of what it is to believe. It is God's purpose to make every believer to subdue everything and to make you perfect and entire and overcoming.

Transformed 8/7 Tuesday Truth

Directly after the baptism of the Holy Ghost came, those crooked, indifferent and peculiar disciples were transformed till one day Peter and John came down and mixed with the people who said: "They are unlearned and ignorant but we see that they have been with Him." Can they say that about us? Have we been with Jesus? Do not think you will comfort people by singing wonderful hymns -- they are lovely. Do not think you will comfort people any other way but by the Word of God being made manifest in that you have been with Jesus.

Ready or Not? 8/6 Monday Meditation

So while we know that Holy Ghost came, it is wrong now to wait for the Holy Ghost. I know it was personally right; it was divinely right for those apostles to hear what Jesus said and to tarry for the Holy Ghost, but it is not right now to tarry for the Holy Ghost. Then why do we not all receive the Holy Ghost, you ask? Because the bodies are not ready for it; the temples are not cleansed. When the temples are purified and the minds put in order so that carnalities and fleshly desires and everything has gone, then the Holy Ghost can take full charge.

-- Smith Wigglesworth

Wednesday, August 1, 2012

"The works that I do, I do not but He that dwelleth in Me." Brother, when that comes to our lost state -- what a transformation. When the Holy Ghost comes, He doeth the work. You are only the instrument, you are the vessel; but glory to God, He condescended to dwell in us -- Praise the Lamb! "The works that I do, I do not; but He doeth them." How lovely to be filled with such incarnation of God's order that the power of the Spirit of the life of Jesus should flow through you and you should be a new creation of the Spirit under the mighty power of God. "If thou hast seen Me, thou hast seen the Father."

The New River 8/1 Wednesday Wisdom

He has no less plan for you than to make you a son of God with power according to the resurrection. I tell you that the incarnation of God by the Spirit is to unveil the glory; let in a cloudburst and make inroads into you till there are new rivers. Oh, for your old rivers to be dried up and the new river by the cloudburst of heaven to make a new plan for you for all time for He is able to do these things in the Spirit.

Make the Water Boil 7/31 Tuesday Truth

If you have to be the oracles [spokesmen] of God -- the apostles of Christ; and as those quickened from the dead, enlarged by the Spirit; intensified with the zeal of the Almighty and made a river, you will have to be on fire, for nothing but fire will make the water boil.

The Rivers Flow 7/30 Monday Meditation

Not a model of good sentence structure, but pretty deep for a man who started working when he was 7 and whose wife taught him to read.

You will never get to know God better by testimony -- testimony should always come through the Word. You will not get to know God better by prayer -- prayer has to come out of the Word. The Word is the only thing that reveals God and is going to be helpful in the world through you in that when the breath and the presence of God come -- the executive of God the Father and the Son -- the Holy Ghost speaks expressively [through the Word] according to the mind of the Father and the Son and so when you are filled with the Holy Ghost, then the breath -- the power -- the unction; the fire takes hold of the Word of life which is Christ, and out of you flow the rivers, and God wants to fill us with that divine power, that out of us shall flow rivers.

In or Not? 7/29 Friday Faith

Paul goes so far as to say that some people have very strange ideas of who will be ready for the coming of the Kingdom. All in Christ will be ready, and you have got to decide whether you are in that or not. The Scripture says in the first verse of Romans eighth chapter:

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

If you are there -- Praise the Lord! That is a good position. I pray the Lord that He will bring us all into that place -- what a wonder it will be.

Big or Little? 7/26 Thursday Thoughts

If you have a great God, you will have a little devil; if you have a big devil, you will have a little God, so may the Lord let us see that we must be so full of the order of the Spirit of life that we are always overcoming him which had the power of death -- even the devil.

Power of God 7/25 Wednesday Wisdom

I hope nobody looks to Wigglesworth as a model of good grammar and sentence structure. Just try to grasp the idea.

We ought to be so full of the manifestation of the power of God that in the Name of Jesus we can absolutely destroy the power of Satan. We are in the world -- not of it. He overcame it and to subdue it unto God we are in the world -- overcomers. We are nothing but in Christ we are more than conquerors through the blood -- more than a match for satanic powers on every line and may the Lord so let us see that we must be loosed from ourselves, for if you examine yourself you will be natural; but if you look at God, you will be supernatural.

Former and Latter Rain 7/24 Tuesday Truth

There is a dry condition existing everywhere today. I find it all over. People are longing for a fulness. There never was such a cry, and beloved, it is because the Scriptures are being fulfilled. The former rain fell in a very blessed way, clothing the apostles with power, and the Acts of the Apostles came forth because they dared to act. We see the deliverance of the captive; the mightiness flowing through like a river till thousands and tens of thousands were saved by the power of the former rain which was by the Spirit; but in these last days God will pour out upon all flesh the Latter Rain, and I believe all flesh will feel the effects of it. It will not be possible for anyone to miss it. they may refuse it; but it will be there for the taking, and I believe God would have us to see that the Later Rain has begun to fall.

A God of Immensity 7/23 Monday Meditation

I tell you when we get to see that God Almighty would always bring in [rein in] the weaknesses with His power; when we see that when He has a plan for us, and when I know that God can take my weakness and make it power; when He can take our weakness and depravity and make us holy, then I know I have a God of immensity.

No Room for Weakness 7/20 Friday Faith

God has for us wonderful things. Many days in the past have been wonderful, but no day is like the present. The Holy Ghost lifting us into His presence, the power flowing, our whole being flaming with the glory of God. Here is God's divine plan for humanity when the Holy Ghost has come. Today we are nearer the goal, the vision is clearer, the Holy Ghost bringing us into the treasure of the Most High. . . There is no room for weakness if we see this mighty incoming life through the Spirit.

What Possibilities There Are 7/19 Thursday Thoughts

Ah, what things God does for us when we only believe. He is so rich to all that call upon Him. What possibilities there are in this meeting if we would only believe in the divine presence, for God is here. The power of the Spirit is here. How many of you dare rise and claim your healing? Who will dare rise and claim your rights of perfect health? All things are possible to him that believeth. Jesus is the living substance of faith. You can be perfectly adjusted by the blood of Jesus. We must believe in the revelation of the Spirit's power and see our blessed position in the risen Christ.

He Is Right Here 7/18 Wednesday Wisdom

"And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live. And Jesus went with him..." (Mark 5:23,24). I want you to know that this same Jesus is in the midst of His people today. He is right here with His ministry of power and blessing.

Knock Out Your "I" 7/17 Tuesday Truth

The greatest opportunity God has afforded to man -- submit to Almighty God . . . Your "I" must be knocked out and your personality be fully surrendered to God. God moves me to see that there is no good thing in me. No! You can polish up the old man -- but he is still the old creation and worthless. Rise to the higher order of revelation with God. Jesus is the greatest of all -- fulfilling, revealing, divine activity.

The Latter Rain 7/13 Friday Faith

It is a poor people who cannot praise the Lord. Suppression of praise never disturbs the devil. God wants firebrands -- lives aflame by the power of God. God has made me so hungry. I never was so hungry and thirsty after God. We are at a place not it will be, but it must be. If we will pay the price -- God will open the heavens . . . that God may bring us a deluge of the latter rain.

No Dreary Days 7/12 Thursday Thoughts

Union With God 7/10 Wednesday Wisdom

Are you in? Oh, be In! In Christ in God. Ready for action, moved by the breath of the Spirit -- to pray through, to preach through, manifesting the glory of the Lord, having a double portion of the Spirit, bathed in ecstasy, delight, and joy. . .

To have union with God is worth all. To have direct communion with God -- no power interfering. Transmitting power, an ascent and descent of communication, charged by the diving operation of the Spirit . . . Thou only has the Word of eternal life.

Never Mind the Past 7/9 Monday Meditation

I say never mind the past. You may have a thousand things that spoil you -- forget them. Count that God has overcome for you in order that you shall overcome and present you faultless . . . "I have failed a thousand times," you say. Never mind, brother. Is your heart warmed? Do you love to be beaten, or do you love to come into line with Him? . . . You may be sorry for the past, but let God have you for the future. . . You say, "Lord, forgive everything of the past but help me, Lord, today to offer an offering in righteousness before Thee, today I give myself afresh.

One time I thought I had the Holy Ghost. Now I know the Holy Ghost has got me. There is a difference between our hanging on to God and God lifting us up. There is a difference between my having desire and God's desire filling my soul. There is a difference between natural compassion and the compassion of Jesus that never fails. Human faith fails but the faith of Jesus never fails.

Our Wealth in Christ 7/4 Wednesday Wisdom

And so the Lord has a great plan for us today to see, or rather bring us to, our wealth in Christ; our wealth, how rich, beyond all comparison. Deep calleth unto deep. The Lord hath prepared for us not only a sonship, but an heirship, not only an heirship, but a joint-heirship, not only feeling the breath of God, but the breath of God moving us, not only touching fire, but fire burning everything that cannot stand fire, and so in this holy sea of life, this divine inheritance for us I see the truth so full of joy unspeakable today, and I see it and I read it to you. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus. Oh, hallelujah! -- Smith Wigglesworth

Greater Than the Adversary 7/3 Tuesday Truth

No man, whoever he is, will ever make progress without [unless] he learns that he is greater than the adversary. If you don't learn, if you don't understand, if you don't come into line today with the thought that you are greater than the adversary, you will find out that you have a struggle in your life. . . I want to be so simple that everyone . . . shall so know that . . . they have the power of God with them to overcome him through the blood of the Lamb.

Overcomers 7/2 Monday Meditation

Returning to Smith Wigglesworth quotes once again. (I'm only up to page 518 out of 856.) To review: Wigglesworth was one of the greatest healing evangelists of all time. He was a plumber whose wife taught him to read, and he never read anything but the Bible. He wouldn't allow anyone to carry a newspaper into his house because of its negativity. Perhaps he was wiser than we are!!!

These are days when Satan is very great, oh yes, he is tremendously busy seeking whom he may devour, but I am finding out this: that God has blessed me and has blessed us that we will be in a place where we are more than overcomers. It is to have a shout at the end of the fight -- to not only overcome, but to be able to stand when we have overcome, not fallen down.

Power and Authority 6/29 Friday Faith

This is the final quote from the series of Christian and Missionary Alliance pioneers. Back to Smith Wigglesworth next week.

It is not power that He gives us. We do not have the power. He has the power. But He gives us authority to act as if we had the power, and then He backs it up with His power. It is like the officer of the law stepping out before a mob and acting in the name of the government. His single word is stronger than a thousand men because he has authority, and all the power of the government is behind him. So faith steps out in the name of heaven and expects God to stand by it.

Negative Attitudes Affect Health 6/28 Thurs. Thoughts

If you want to keep the health of Christ, keep from all spiritual sores, from all heart-wounds and irritations. One hour of fretting will wear out more vitality than a week of work, and one minute of malignity, or rangling jealousy or envy will hurt more than a drink of poison. Sweetness of spirit and joyousness of heart are essential to full health. . . We do not wonder that some people have poor health when we hear them talk for half an hour. They have enough dislikes, prejudices, doubts and fears to exhaust the strongest constitution. Beloved, if you would keep God's life and strength, keep out of the things that kill it.

-- A.B. Simpson

It's better to maintain divine health than to need divine healing! Affirm Psalm 103:1-5 daily.  --Lep

Power of the Name of Jesus 6/27 Wednesday Wisdom

God revealed to me the NAME of JESUS in special power and enabled me to plead it within the veil for an hour or more until it seemed to break down every barrier and to command all that I could ask.

Lord, show me what the 'Double' means, all Your estimate of it, the Double portion of the Spirit. Double all You have ever done for me. Give me Elisha's blessing, the first born's portion -- all Your gifts and all Your graces.

Use Your Authority 6/26 Tuesday Truth

"I give you authority." This is the policeman's badge which makes him mightier than a whole crowd of ruffians because, standing upon his rights, the whole power of the state is behind him. . . . Are we using the authority of the name of Jesus and the faith of God?"

Redeemed From the Curse 6/25 Monday Meditation

In Galatians 3:13 we read: 'Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us"... What was the curse of the law? In Deut. 28 God names the blessings promised to the obedient, and then enumerates the curses that will fall upon those who will not hearken unto His voice and do all His commandments. He names the diseases which are known as 'the curse of the law' ... When Jesus redeemed us from the curse of the law, He redeemed us from ... the whole list of diseases named in that curse. ... Tell me the name of your disease and I will tell you one from which you have been redeemed and can be healed.

Remedy for Sin and Sickness 6/22 Friday Faith

If sickness has come into the world through sin, which is conceded, it must be got out of the world through God's great remedy for sin, the cross of Jesus Christ. . . . If healing is provided for by Jesus Christ, then it is a redemption right which we may humbly yet boldly claim while walking obediently with the Lord.

God Glorified by Health 6/21 Thursday Thoughts

It is a prevalent idea that piety is easier in sickness than in health, and that silent suffering inclines the soul to seek the Lord more than the distractions of life. For these reasons, sick people hesitate to ask for healing from the Lord. They believe that sickness may be more of a blessing to them than health. To think thus is to ignore that healing and its fruits are divine. . . . Although many sick people may have glorified God by their patience in suffering, He can be still more glorified by a health which He has sanctified.

Healing is Normal 6/20 Wednesday Wisdom

Divine healing . . . is His normal provision for the believer. It is something that is included in our redemption rights, something that is part of the gospel of His grace, something that is already recognized as within His will and not requiring a special revelation to justify us claiming it.

Sickness is Contrary 6/19 Tuesday Truth

Sickness is contrary to the kingdom of heaven. . . . Disease is interference with His original and established laws. It is the sign of an invader somewhere in His kingdom. . . . God's answer is the restoration of His law from this daring infringement. . . . He treated sickness as a disorder in His kingdom, a menace to His honor and authority.

Look and Be Healed 6/18 Monday Meditation

God told Moses to lift up the brazen serpent, which was a type of Christ. Those who were dying were carried to where they could look at the type of Christ, and all who looked received the double cure and were healed (Numbers 21). . . . If the children of Israel could look at the type of Christ and receive healing, why can not we look at the antitype, Christ Himself, and be healed? . . . Everyone who looked at the brazen serpent was healed. They didn't get healed looking at their swollen bodies that had been bitten by serpents, but by looking at the type of Christ. You can never get faith by looking at symptoms or at yourselves, but you can look to Jesus, and meditate on God's faithfulness, until faith will come into existence with out any effort, and then your diseases will evaporate like a mist before the sun.

The Value of Tongues 6/15 Friday Faith

An ideal New Testament church would have all of the spiritual gifts of 1 Corinthians 12 effective among the believers.

-- Dr. Ira David, in The Christian and Missionary Alliance Weekly

We have been burdened for some time over the low ebb of life in the church. Is there not a crying need for the full manifestation of the Spirit in the Church? ... The nine gifts [of 1 Corinthians 12] are given for the perfection of the body, Should they not manifest in every assembly if the body is to perform her function fully?

-- R.S. Roseberry, early C&MA mission leader

Alliance leaders are quite agreed in believing that speaking in tongues should have a place in every Spirit-controlled church.

-- J. Hudson Ballard, early member of C&MA Board of Managers

Tongues are valuable . . . in proportion as the speaker communes with God. . . . It seems to us that it is not possible to reach the highest and best of our heavenly inheritance apart from them.

-- William T. MacArthur, early V.P. of The Christian and Missionary Alliance and Simpson's associate pastor

We Have All the Rest 6/14 Thursday Thoughts

We must repudiate this great, modern wave of seeking God for His benefits. The sovereign God wants to be loved for Himself and honored for Himself, but that is only part of what He wants. The other part is that He wants us to know that when we have Him, we have everything -- we have all the rest.

Put Out Your Tongue 6/13 Wednesday Wisdom

It matters little what gifts and manifestations we possess if we have not the spirit of gentleness and love that will at least let your brother alone and if you cannot agree with him will love him and pray for him in silence. We believe that in almost every instance the test of spiritual health will be found by applying the simple rule which the physician usually first applies to his patient, "Put out your tongue."

5 Benefits of the Baptism 6/12 Tuesday Truth

Personally I have never received such a spiritual uplift as when I receive this blessed Baptism [of the Holy Spirit] and spoke in tongues. The anointing then received 'abides' unto this day. These are a few of the many benefits that I would mention:

Deeper Love and Understanding of the Word of God. "A deeper love for, and understanding of, the Word of God than ever before."

A Sense of Our Powerlessness and the Power of Prayer. "A knowledge of my utter strengthlessness and of the power of the Name and the Blood of Jesus in prayer as never before."

A Greater Anointing in Witnessing and Preaching. "An unction in witnessing and preaching greater than ever before."

Greater Control of Our Human Tongue. "A control of the 'unruly member' in daily life since the Lord took peculiar charge of my tongue."

Grater Awareness of Spiritual Warfare. "A clearer understanding of the mighty works of the Holy Spirit and of evil spirits, in these last days of the Present Age."

The Purpose of the Baptism 6/8 Friday Faith

A little long, but you've got the weekend to read it when you have time:

[The Baptism of the Holy Spirit's] purpose is to fit us for Christian service as witnesses for Christ. It gives personal courage, boldness and faith in witnessing for God and testifying to men. It gives love for souls and holy tact and wisdom to win them. It gives effectiveness to our message and convicts the world through us of sin, righteousness and judgment. It not only works in the preacher, giving unction and power to his message, but works distinctly in the heart of the hearer, producing divine impression, conviction, persuasion, faith, and salvation. It equips us for our special ministries as evangelists, teachers, rulers, comforters, pastors, helpers. It gives wisdom for the emergencies which we are called to meet. It gives special faith for particular needs and exigencies and accompanies the workers with such special gifts of the Spirit, whether in healing the sick, or even sometimes miraculous answers to prayer as God sees best fit to bear witness to His Word and His worker. It is especially manifest in the ministry of intercession and becomes the spirit of intense prevailing prayer. Sometimes it is manifest in ecstatic tongues of praise and special messages of prophetic appropriateness in testimony, warning, comfort or encouragement. It is the spirit of revival coming down, not only upon individuals, but upon multitudes in mighty floods of Pentecostal blessing and leading men and women to cry, 'What must we do to be saved?; this blessed power is the heritage of the New Testament church. It is ours for the asking and receiving. It is the only power that can give energy, fervor, efficiency and glory to our work.

All the Gifts 6/7 Thursday Thoughts

Why may we not have all the gifts and all the graces of the Apostolic Church blended in one harmonious whole. . . . Why may we not have all the supernatural ministries of the early Church? . . . Why may we not have the ministry of teaching, the gifts of wisdom, knowledge, the faith of primitive Christianity, and even the tongues of Pentecost, without making them subjects of controversy, without judging one another harshly, because each may have all the gifts, and all in such beautiful and blended harmony?

Channel to the Heavenly World 6/6 Wed. Wisdom

[The Apostle Paul] does not ignore the gift of tongues by any means, but recognizes it as the distinct mark of divine power and presence, and a very glorious and blessed channel of direct fellowship with the heavenly world, and in some sense a real opening of the doors between the earthly and the heavenly.

It appears to be a divine ecstasy which lifts the soul above the ordinary modes and expressions of reason and utterance. . . . The spirit is the higher element and in the gift of tongues appears to overlap the mind altogether, and find its expression in speech quite unintelligible to the person himself and yet truly expressing the higher thought and feeling of the exalted spiritual state of the subject.

Baptism of the Holy Spirit 6/1 Friday Faith

There is no truth that needs to be more emphasized in this age of smartness and human self-sufficiency than the imperative necessity of the baptism of the Holy Spirit as the condition of all effective Christian work.

No man is fitted for the humblest service in the church of God until he receives the divine baptism of the Holy Spirit. The mother needs it in the nursery, the Sunday school teacher in his class, the preacher in his pulpit, the soul winner in his dealings with the inquirer and the saint in his ministry of prayer in the secret closet.

Signs Following 5/31 Thursday Thoughts

What right have we to go to the unbelieving world and demand their acceptance of our message without these signs following? . . . No, Christ did give them, and they did follow as long as Christians continued to 'believe' and expect them. . . . The signs shall correspond to the extent of their faith.

The signs of healing do not follow all believers, but they follow those who believe for the signs.

Supernatural Gifts 5/30 Wednesday Wisdom

Were these [supernatural gifts] meant merely to be transitory and special and temporary signs in connection with the introduction of Christianity into the world? Or were they part of the permanent enduement of the church? Does not the apostle tell us that these gifts and ministries were bestowed 'till we all come into the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ'? Certainly the church has not yet reached that maturity and if these gifts were needed then they are needed still.

Yesterday, Today, Forever 5/29 Tuesday Truth

In every age it ought still to be true, God also bearing them witness both with signs and wonders and with diverse miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit according to His own will. If the Christ of Christianity is the same yesterday, today and forever, the Christianity of Christ ought also to be the same yesterday, today, and forever.

C&MA Pioneers: an intro 5/28 Monday meditation

We're going to take another break from Smith Wigglesworth for a few weeks to focus on quotes from pioneers and early leaders of The Christian and Missionary Alliance. I recently attended Rekindle the Flame, the annual Alliance charismatic conference that is dedicated to "refreshing the memory" of the C&MA as to its para-Pentecostal and early Word of Faith roots. I am going to share quotations from Dr. Paul King's book Nuggets of Genuine Gold, which is a book of quotes from early Spirit-filled Alliance leaders. (I got to talk to him a couple times at the conference.) I think that fellow members of the Alliance will be amazed in the weeks ahead to learn about the original theology of The Christian and Missionary Alliance.  These are great quotes regardless of your particular stream of Christianity.

Christ's last promise in Mark embraces much more than healing; but if you claim one, you must claim all. If you expect healing of the sick, you must include the gift of tongues and the power to overcome malignant poisons; and if the gift of tongues has ceased, so in the same way has the power over disease. We cheerfully accept the severe logic, we cannot afford to give up one of the promises. We admit our belief in the presence of the Healer in all the charismata of the Pentecostal church.

This Sunday is PENTECOST, celebrating the coming of the Holy Spirit to be among us and within us.
When the Holy Spirit came on the day of Pentecost, why did the believers break out into ecstatic language? Simply, it was because they were rightly worshiping God for the first time. Intensive worship unexpectedly leaped out of their hearts. It was nothing planned or perpetuated by some 'worship leader.' God was in their midst. Whenever there is a move of the Holy Spirit, it is always a call for God's people to be worshipers of the Most High God above everything else.

The Great Secret 5/24 Thursday Thoughts

The great secret of the plan of God for us . . . is to see our covering. To those which are in. Oh, the covering, oh, the enfolding, oh, those eyes, those lovely eyes, that lovely Jesus, that blessed assurance of entrenchment, that knowledge of the Rock of Ages cleft for me, that place where I know I am in. And that joy unbounding where I know there are neither devils nor angels nor principalities nor powers to interfere with that life in Christ. Wonderful! No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper -- evil report or good report -- God makes us devil-proof.

If You Help Yourself 5/23 Wednesday Wisdom

If you help yourself -- in the measure you help yourself, you will find that the limitations of the life of God and the power of God are diminished. I find so many people trying to help themselves. What God wants is an absolute entire cling to Him -- only one grand plan which God has got for us, "only believe." Absolute rest, perfect submission. Entirety, where God has taken charge of the situation, and you are absolutely brought into everything that God has, because you dare "only believe" what He says.

Knowledge and Joy 5/22 Tuesday Truth

The knowledge of our weakness brought the greatness of redemption -- knowledge is coupled with joy. You cannot have the knowledge of the Lord without joy. Joy in the Knowledge of Him. Not long petitions, but faith is peace. Where faith is undisturbed is peace. Eternal faith, daring to believe what God has said. If I dare but trust Him, I find it always comes to pass -- no wavering. "...let not that man think... he shall receive any thing of the Lord" (James 1:7). Only believe.

The Word of God 5/21 Monday Meditation

All our hope is in the Word of the living God. The Word of God abideth forever. Oh, the glorious truths found therein. Never compare this Book with other books. This is from heaven; it does not contain the Word of God, it is the Word of God. Supernatural in origin, eternal in duration, value, infinite in scope, divine in authorship. Read it through, pray it in, write it down. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

Come Up Higher 5/18 Friday Faith

If you are reading this on Thursday, today is Ascension Day.

Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:9-11)

I want you all to understand today that the design of God's Son for us is to be so much greater in this world than we have ever comprehended. . . My eyes are looking up, my heart is surrendered. My heart is big and enlarged in the presence of God, for I want to hear one word from God, "Come up higher" and God will give us that. Higher into a holy association.

Measurement 5/17 Thursday Thoughts

We must not measure ourselves by ourselves, if we do we shall always be small. Measure yourself by the Word of God, the great measurement that God brings to you. Don't be fearful, He wants to make us strong, powerful, stalwart, resolute, resting upon the authority of God. . . We are those who have seen the King, we have been quickened from the death. God has wrought special miracles in us all; we are made with one great design and purpose.

Possess All Things 5/16 Wednesday Wisdom

When you have nothing you can possess all things. If you rely upon anything else, you cannot possess the greater things. The infinite God is behind the man who has no trust in earthly things, you are in a place where you are trusting in nothing but God.

So Much Greater 5/15 Tuesday Truth

The Lord has one great plan in the meeting, to reveal to us that we are so much greater than we know, a thousand times greater than you have any conception of. The Word of the Lord will reveal that all things are possible, if you dare believe, and signs and wonders are within the reach of all of us. The Lord wishes me to make it known this morning, you have not to go up nor down to find Him. He is in your hearts. The Word of life. I am perceiving that the Lord has this treasure within us, that the excellency of the power shall bring glory to God.

Faith Is a Reality 5/14 Monday Meditation

Faith is a reality, not something that you can handle, but something that handles you to handle others. I am living in the inheritance of it because of the faith of God. It is a gift of God (Ephesians 2:8).

Through faith the eternal Word by the operation of His Spirit brings forth life in our hearts, and we realize we are living in a divine order, where God is manifesting His power and living with us. This is the plan of God for us, our inheritance, that the world should receive a blessing through us.
